New on here so don't know if this has been discussed yet but what do others think about the new Powerbilt Air Force One driver that is filled with nitrogen ?
Apparently they use a thinner face and the ball travels 10 to 20 yds. further as a result ( heard that before! )
They are on sale in the US at around $400 dollars !

When i read this thread ...the first thing that crossed my mind was....."DONT BE DAFT"

Never heard of it mate, wouldnt interest me as i think equipment , particularly drivers is getting out of hand!

Here's a quote:

Each Air Force One clubhead is coated on the inside with a leak-proof resin and then charged with nitrogen gas to pressures as high as 150 psi. The air pressure provides the appropriate face support so that each driver performs within USGA regulations. The USGA tests a driver’s performance by using a swing speed of 110 mph. The vast majority of golfers swing much slower than 110 mph, meaning they are not compressing the face of the club, and therefore not getting maximum distance.

What happens when the pressure drops, as it inevitably will? At what temperature was it pressurized? The pressure will drop or increase depending on the temperature so if you are playing on a really cold day, you can expect a much lower pressure and a much higher pressure on a hot day. Will this effect the club's performance? Also, how do you know that the pressure is still in there? Is it fitted with a pressure gauge?

I think part of the logic for it maybe similar to Formula 1 cars, they inflate the tyres with nitrogen as it maintains a more constant pressure than air :D

Last time I had power bilt in my mind was when I had a set of power bilt clubs a long time ago.

Its just another techno club to me, may well be of use to some but until I get a go with one for free, it will remain another gimicky purchase to me.

Not for me but I'm sure many will be taken in by the promise of 20 yds more.

Suppose you'll need a "compressed gas" sticker for the bag of your golf mobile whilst transporting the clubs. After all, nitrogen is a deadly poisonous gas.
