Anyone have one of these? On offer at DirectGolf for £179 and i'm tempted!

Any feedback would be great, thanks.

Have one works great for me, it does not like dusk or misty rain but otherwise really good. Took a little time to get used to using it but it is really easy to use, I love the scan feature where you can ping a few diffrent spots in one hit.

Got mine second hand off eBay had it around two years and still on the same battery.

yep, I love mine and in my view better than the v3 bushnell. When comparing with friends ones mine was a lot better at picking at the flag when there was trees behind the flag.

also, the fact is scans for 7seconds is really good

I tried both the Nikon and Bushnell and found the Bushnell to pick up the flag quicker and work better in fading light. I struggled to focus the Nikon but found the Bushnell simple and sharp.

Is there really that much difference between the Bushnell and Nikon bar perhaps a few seconds in locking onto the target?

Probably not but like most things in golf it's all down to personal feel imo.

The issue I've got with them is there's no one that do custom fitting where you could whittle down the best one to suit you.

Ive just bought a second hand Nikon coolshot off ebay, but struggling with it - any tips/advice? Getting 2-3 different readings all the time.

Also the little blue loop was dented on the front when received so thinking of sending it back, in case that is why I'm struggling with it.

When i use mine and you first ping it i find i tend to miss the flag, i do however not have a problem then using the aiming image to find the flag and get a true reading.

I do understand why some prefer the pinseaker thingy but more than happy with my Nikon

I have a Bushnell Z6 jolt. Really easy to use. I has red view finder cross hairs so they stand out better compared to black. You know when you find the pin as it vibrates and a flag logo pops up in the display. Very easy to use. I tried a few different models when I was looking to buy and this just happened to be my preference. The red display was a big plus.

Had mine about 3 or 4 years now (bought for the same price you mention), love it. Very easy to use.

When I first tried it, putting the viewfinder straight against the eye proved awkward and difficult to hold it steady. Quickly worked out that if I hold it in the palm of the hand and form a "half moon seal" around the edge of it with the thumb and forefinger of said hand, it holds firm and steady, and easier to look through. Effectively the thumb and forefinger press against your face instead of the rangefinder directly - hope that makes sense...

Wouldn't be without mine now.

Very good, chose mine over v2/v3 At the time. Easy operation, better lens and magnification, waterproof, long battery life (9months for me, 1-2 rounds per week). Paid about 190 for mine with 50 off at the time thanks to a 20% code posted here.

If it's the same as mine it continually measures distances while the diagonal cross hairs are flashing. I always get more than one reading, and I prefer it that way because it makes me more certain that the shortest one (not withstanding trees in the way) is the flag.

Not sure what you mean by the blue ring. Do you mean closest to your eye or t'other side?

Just below the viewing hole, there is a small 1 inch piece of blue metal, maybe its for you to use to loop something through to put on your bag, but it was dented in.

Thanks for the advice y'all.

Ah right. Mine is an old model and doesn't have it.

I guess it's the blue thing bottom right in the pic, in which case I'd agree it's for putting something through so you can hang it off your bag. Or if you play in a rough area maybe a security cable like the lappies in PC World.

Yep, that's the fella.

Although were Scouser lives they have Dobermans with mace spray attached to the laptops.:)

Took the plunge and bought the Coolshot.

Very impressed I have to say, seems very easy to use, and the continuous scanning for 8 seconds is a good touch for checking bunkers etc as well as the pin with one push of the button.

Thanks for all the replies.

I tried the v3 in the local AG today and I think it's a great piece of kit, easy to use even with my dodgy shaky hands.

Luckily I'd left my money at home though I dont know how long it will be til I give in to the devil
