Here's a pic of the updated Nike Pro Combos...

As I've posted before the old Combos or blades from Nike are the irons I dream of being able to game but as a realist I believe they would do more harm than good playing off my current HCP. I have hit the old ones and they are great when you hit the sweet spot but not very forgiving at all with miss hits. I WILL GET THERE ONE DAY!!!

Maybe its just me but if i had the game to hit nice forged irons, i would be buying Japanese every day of the week.

Mizuno make some of the nicest looking bats around and i love the MP 54 and 58 respectively.

I had a bash with an old Vega VC01 (think it was one of those anyway) down the range the other day and it was so buttery and nice, that i finally understand the appeal of proper forged clubs.

Nike are getting there aesthetically though. Anyone remember the Nike slingshots? blurgh...

More of an evolution than a revolution. A bit like titleist do. To be fair, they didn't need to change much, the old ones were pretty nice.

People need to get over the swoosh is tat mentality. There is no reason why other brands can't forge a bit of metal into a golf club just as well as the Japanese. Yes mizuno make nice irons, although the last few I have tried weren't exceptional. I've even got a forged mizzy 6i as a practice club. It's ok. My titleist zb are ok too, as are my macgregor 1025m blades.

I struggled with mine at first but now I'd have no issues with moving to muscle backs. If your comfortable with not hitting the sweet spot then fair enough but the feedback from these type of clubs makes you a better player in the long run.

And that's the exact reason when I got cut to 21 I bought mine... they are my "forever" clubs and I hope will get me to where I think my talent can take me, approx 14.

I started playing the original pro combos when I had a higher handicap than you. took me about a week of hacking around with them until I feel in love with them. they were in my bag ever since till last Christmas. played with them for about a month this summer. I still have another set of them to play with when I get home to Ireland. amazing clubs.

.

I may be wrong but I think pretty much all forged irons are forged in the same place, or a few places regardless of manufacturer

I agree with you Mizuno make some very nice looking irons

Edit: just to add the current pro combos are absolutely superb clubs, love mine.

They do look lovely. Might have to have a sneaky trip up to AG on the bike for a knock in the coming weeks even though I have no chance of getting any for a very long time.

I've always loved the look of the Mizuno MP62's and Titleist CB's, these new Nike look similar:thup:

Can't beat forged clubs for feel.
