So who's got the Nike Vapor Pro Driver and is it really that much better/longer/straighter than the Speed ?? Watched Shiels last night testing with a 13 handicapper and there the results were almost identical to the Speed in terms of carry and distance. I'm guessing one needs to be a better player with faster swing speed but would be keen to hear of anyone's personal experiences.

I love watching Shiels and Finch. I could all day long. Great tests they do. I like the tests done by Mark Crossfield too. Dead straight forward and he tends to just hit everything he tests the same distance, and puts it down to how you feel about the club at address and how it looks. A view I reckon most golfers would have if they were consistent enough.

Funnily enough though, I used to own a Titleist 983K, and on a good hit I was easily further by about 20 yards than my current Cleveland Classic. More forgiving on the Cleveland because it has a car roof as a face, but the Titleist did have a nicer flight and dropped better. Both 9.5 drivers too on Reg shaft.

Best to try one out, but not indoors, on a range. I don't trust those GC2 systems, no wind or anything to hit into.

So I did a pretty comprehensive review after purchasing the driver on its release:

Give that a read - it may help!

I really like the flight on it and its pretty good if you hit it out the bottom of the face as well. After having a play with some others I wouldnt say it was the longest driver on the market especially if you have a regular swing speed. This driver replaced my superfast burner 2.0 and out the middle I dont think there is too much difference. Furthest I have hit it is 345 yards which was downwind and I manage to draw it round the dog leg on to quite a firm fairway. But on average from my last driver I would say I achieve a good 15 yards further on average.

I really do find it easier to hit and I can shape shots with it which is a new development for me in my game.
The most impressive thing is how it looks. Nothing comes close.

I used a covert tour in the past; which is still in my garage and when the new vapors came out I wanted to try them out. I didn't get on with them, so changed brands.

I don't have either club, but can offer an answer.

No. It may or may not be a better fit for you. But it isn't in and of itself better/longer/straighter.

I hear what you say Stuey and in principle you may be right but i'm sure the Scientists, Robotic testers amongst us may look to disprove your theory. :) Surely not all drivers go the same distance , last the same amount of time , perform the same without human interference or else there'd be no market as such.

I hit all 3 when they first came out, my driver swing back then was horrible, but at the time, I did prefer the feel, look and noise of the Pro. Didn't really like the feel of the Speed, and am not a fan of the silver face, the black face looks so much nicer!
