Nike staff players switching drivers

I tried it in a fitting a couple of weeks ago, didn't get on too well with it though so ended up with a Big Bertha Fusion.

I have a small feeling that these tour pros have a much better swing than me though

i think theres something in the mix. big coincidence that they're all switching to tm. i think something big is brewing and they have been given some inside info.

oh and the m2 you buy off the shelf is nothing like the tour issue. i have hit rob rocks and it sounds and feels worlds apart from the normal one

In what way? Tell more.

i got fitted for the m1 as the m2 span waaaaaay too much for me. rocks m2 launched lower with less spin than my m1 and felt alot more dead off the face than the shop Baught m2. he must have had a hot melt too as the head was heavier

That almost sounds a different club. Is that done uniquely for him in the tour truck or at TM HQ?

I'm not sure. i assume that's how it was sent to him. my friend who used to build his clubs said that the reason the pro's have split between the m family is because if all the pros use the m1 the crowd will flock to that and buy the m1. so they get alot of the pros to use a low spin m2 so the public think '' that m2 must be the dogs if dustin Johnson is using it''. of course that's just his opinion

Funnily enough, I never got on with the M2 cos I felt was too light in the head also

Don't mean to pry, just intrigued how you can change a club in the ways you describe. I get some alterations but those seem more than a different shaft, shorter length etc. Saying that I don't understand club building. All very clever.

i have no idea either. i have a Taylormade rescue 11 from the tour truck. when you compare it to a normal one its identical in every way. however its 10 gram heavier and sounds like a different club. I'd love to know what that's about

May have something to do with tour pro's not needing the constant adjustability of the M1 as they have personalisation available from the Tour Truck at every event.

I can agree with this 100% with you.

My current 5 wood is a "Tour only" club.

TC stamped on the hosel, hot melt port on the sole and a real deal Fubuki ZT70 shaft.

I also have the 3 wood stock variant and is completely different!

The head is much lighter to swing than the 5 wood and it also has the stock Project X shaft as opposed the to MRC Fubuki.

On balance I prefer the feel of the 5 wood.

Sorry, but I have to ask: what shaft (&flex) do you have in your driver and what shaft was used in rock's driver?

Lower launch, less spin and a more "dead feeling" club could well be caused by a stiffer shaft...

Don't TM pay people to use their drivers???

I think so, same as Titleist with the balls so they can market as "#1 ball/driver on tour". I remember reading on GolfWRX it was about 1,500 dollars a tournament? Obviously not a consideration for McIlroy or the like I'm sure!

The M2 is a great driver though.

Callaway's new driver is meant to be very impressive if you believe the hype over the pond..........
