I know not everyone on the forum likes Nike. I carry a Nike Covert Driver (which on a good day can be pretty good). However, loooking at the result last week, it does seem they got something going for them..

Cheyenne Woods - Aussie LPGA
Ross Fisher-- Tshwane open
Russell Henley -- Honda Classic

Yup, they also had Woods & Rors not making it..

Will this year mark the coming of age for Nike golf? Will we see more formers just do it and take the plunge?

I think Nike have had a rep as being a bit flash and not really knowing about golf....but do agree it's changing.

I bought my Vr Pro Combo CB irons nearly a year ago and they're great clubs, have also read a lot of others saying the same thing.....they do seem to be taken more seriously these days as a contender when people need new shinies!

It's nothing to do with the clubs, they just happen to spend more money on player endorsement than anyone else.

Nike seem to get a lot of stick for their golf gear with many thinking they should stick to… er, well... other sports. In my experience, however, Nike make great gear and have been doing for some time.

Many moons ago I played the original Slingshot irons which were excellent; same thoughts re: other equipment I've owned including Pro Combo irons, VRS driver, Covert driver, etc.

And I think they came of age a good while ago now. They've been sponsoring the most notable sportsman in the world for some time now, so I think the word is well and truly out.

I like nike gear,

Tried their irons, love the vr2 pro combo' sand vr pro blades
Tried some of their drivers, covert is nice vr pro limited is awesome.
And their apparel is some of the best out there.

They may be spending fortunes on endorsements, but it think their reaping the investments back in retail sales.

Interestingly, I havent come across a Nike 'fitting center' like Titelist, Mizzy etc. Trying the new VRS irons is one of the things on my list this year..

Possibly because it's in Leeds!

And we all know civilisation doesn't exist North of Windsor!

Surprised both how good some Nike kit is and how poor other Nike kit is.

Particularly impressed with the Pro Combos, though no longer the 3 styles in the 1 set - because of Manufacturing Cost - and woods.

Putters have always been yuck for me - even the Method ones - though same has applied to most TM ones as well - same 'cheap' look.

And Golf is really a tiny part (3% was the number I've seen) of their business!

Nike's profile should really be higher than it is bearing in mind they have 2 of the best players on the Planet + several more slightly lesser names on their roster.
They also advertise a reasonable amount but, apart from some on here, I haven't seen Nike club in a bag.
Plenty of Ping, Callaway, Mizuno, Titleist, TaylorMade etc etc but no Nike.....

Can't really pin down a reason, their clubs are as good as most others, the pricing is consistent with other brands and there doesn't seem to be problem sourcing them, AG and DG both stock them....

Plenty of Pros, plenty of stock, not plenty of users.........

Hardy ever see Nike stuff in guys bags up here!

Ive tried stuff in the past but was unimpressed and nothing in thre line up has temped me!

That interesting, when I was fitted for the amp the vr pro limited was a close joint second, and I hit a covert in completely the wrong spec Sunday as was very impressed, my normal spec being 9.5/stiff, hit an 11* reg that flew well, nice flight! and bang on target.... LOFT UP

I bought a new set of irons last year, tried out loads of different ones over a period of 6 weeks and about 10 sessions, Titliest, Taylor Made, Ping etc, but the Nike Covert VRS irons proved consistently to give me the best ball strike and control.

I made the decision at the start of the selection process not to buy a set because of the name (Ive always gone for TM before), but to base my purchase solely on performance.

Can't say I regret the decision or the purchase. Im hitting more good shots than ever before, and producing my best run of scores for a long long time. I accept that there are other variables like playing more regularly and practicing, but I wouldn't put anyone off of buying NIke for any reason.

That explains it... Difficult if there is a fitting opportunity as I don't have my passport ready..
