Just in from playing 9 holes in the dark , well with light up balls and fluorescent (sp?)flags & poles/markers defining the fairways ..

decent laugh to be honest great to see the ball flight in the dark sky

head torches to light up the tees & greens , makes ya keep ur head down til u hit ball , putting eas a tad hard/silly

Anyone else played it

We played it a few years back in the middle of summer. It was a particularly cold night and it was the most awful thing I've ever done and will never ever do it again!

We had five holes the other day. Didn't play and heard it was freezing.

I played Carya in Turkey last year under floodlights. Quite surreal especially watching the ball against a black sky. A few years ago I played a par three in Florida which was floodlit, but only the tees and greens. You teed off and hit the ball into the darkness and didn't see it again until it reappeared out of the darkness onto the green. Quite weird.

(This is Carya where the Turkish Airlines Open was last month.)

Only tried once. The cost to run these lights with generators can be quite salty. Its a great idea to draw in more golfers. But the costs need to be analyzed

Back there in Feb, will be straight off the plane and onto the course for some night golf. Awesome setup.

Played under the floodlights in Dubai a few times, it's good but keeping track of a normall ball is so difficult.

Done the same. It's incredible. Want to go back

As for the Brit version with light up balls etc....I never have, but a mate of mine did one cold evening. The balls were so hard, and it was so cold that his 2 iron face cracked and his 3 wood face caved in. Fecking bizarre to see the clubs after

Tain had a go a few years ago, with some light up balls and a few low stick. was fun, but short lived and everyone lost their balls by the 3rd hole:rofl:

I think the original post is a little different to flood light golf abroad.

As a kid the local pay and play course used to do this on Halloween.

Glow in the dark balls

Fairways edges and bunkers defined by 12 in glow stick every ten - fifteen yards.

The pins would have around 4/5 taped to it and there was a disc that went into the hole for putting. It always looked a giggle but sadly they had stopped it before I started playing so never got to try it

You could only light the holes as the groups played, great way to encourage swift rounds, turning the lights off after a fixed number of minutes on each hole, if they want them back on they must swipe their credit card!
