Played in the invitation tournament at my club on Saturday along with my father. We finished around 8.30 Our lift arrived at 10 and on loading our clubs into the car I realised that my driver and my dads big bertha 3 wood were missing.

There were about a dozen bags in the locker room but we are the only two that have reported that their gear has gone missing. To gain access to the locker room you need to go through two swipe access doors

This is the second time this has happened to me this season. I had left my SW beside a bunker on the course. Somebody had put it in the lost and found bin but it got stolen from there. I am seriously thinking about moving club now. I would not feel so bad if it was just my stuff that was nicked. They are going to look at the CCTV but I am not to hopeful.

I had registered my serial number with TM but I have no idea what it was. Had a look on their website but could only find a US contact for customer services. Does anybody know of a UK contact number so I could try and retrieve the serial number as I need it for insurance purposes?

To be honest, if somebody from my club stole from me, unless they were found and kicked-out I would leave the club, I cannot bear thieving scum and that is nicking from your own in my eyes which is an absolute diabolical liberty.

Really sorry to hear this has happened to you, not once but twice, there obviously is a major problem tbh as I have never heard of a theft at my club whatsoever.

Hope it gets resolved

It is unbelievable that this happens in golf of all sports, some people are just born scum and should not be tolerated. If caught the club should both kick them out for good and report the matter to the police. Sorry to hear this has happened though, if it does seem like it will be a regular occurrence that the club are unenthusiastic about fixing I would certainly start looking elsewhere, golf is supposed to be a game of honesty and integrity so you should not have to worry about leaving your bag unattended for a small length of time.

Nightmare Stuart. Sorry to hear that.

Like you, I could only find a US website which has a customer services number. Have you tried e-mailing them with your details. They might be able to provide you with proof of purchase simply from your e-mail address if you had registered.

It just shows you can't trust anyone nowadays. Hope the CCTV footage brings up something, mate.

I don't want to sound as though I am having a go at you but you should't leave your clubs in a position where they can be knicked, especially after it happened the first time.

Unfortunately golf clubs are not immune from theft.

i think its ridiculous that you can't leave your clubs in a secure locker room area and a fellow member steals from you mate

madandra: Thats hardly likely to endear you to the Club & its committee is it ??

It could happen at any Club, I guess it just comes down to the kind of membership it has ?
I have never heard of any item being stolen at my own club, and am pretty sure if I left my clubs in the locker room they would be untouched.

I would perhaps suggest to the Club that they install CCTV to combat the issue, and perhaps they will offer to pay for your equipment.

If they have a fob/card entry system they may be able to narrow-down who was in the room during the period the theft occurred if the computer logs this as it does at my members club.

Once this is done, interrogation (oh I wish torture was legal on these scumbags) could begin, the thief may well crack under pressure.

It really is disheartening to hear about theivery happening in a secure locker room of a club when golf is supposed to be renound for its honesty both on & off the course in general. If I find a club on a course it gets handed in at the proshop or clubhouse.

It really is not done at all to mess with other peoples property.

I think I would be having some stern words with the commitee to obtain some kind of reembersment that your insurance may not cover & more than a promise that security will be improved, before I would re-join when membership time comes up.

I really can't believe visitors have access to members secure locker rooms at yourclub, especially seeing your club is supposed to have the sort of security you describe.

A small club you can understand may have a joint locker room, but at many clubs visitors locker rooms are seperate from members.

Though if it was a member I'd be even more worried especially as its the second time as you say you've been tageted.

BTW I assume you actually are able to lock away your clubs in lockers, otherwise I'd have been locking them in my car boot.

Thanks to all who replied and especially Toad who came up with the TM contact number.

the club did not contact me yesterday so i am unsure if the CCTV showed anything, or if they have even looked at it. I will be going up today.

I should have pointed out that my SW that was lifted out of the lost and found bin was not in a secure area.

In reply to others, yes we do have a visitors locker room but as the competition ran from 7am to 4pm it is not big enough for all the visitors.

Andy may be correct that it was not a member who lifted my driver may have been a non member as they were a lot of non members going in and out. I am as guilty of anyone of holding open the door to someone who i have no idea if he is a member or not. The club have already said it will probably be a non member but i feel they are to dismissive of the notion it might not be.

It looks like i might not be insured as the clubs were not secured. If they had been in my car or in a locker that I have been on a waiting list for four years for i would have been ok.

Played in the invitation tournament at my club....

My money goes on some manky visitor with a grudge against private clubs. My guess is he plays out of a muni and was with a guest of a member who had no idea he was a thieving B'stard.

So all people who play at Municipals are thief's? I find this type of attitude out dated and offensive, and people wonder why "private" clubs are begging people for memberships, its attitudes like this that turn people away from golf and private clubs.

So where's the problem i ear you ask well some robbing sh*t house nicked all my going out gear Diesel t-shirt £80 jeans £30 belt even my shoes!! And i was hoping it was some sort of joke but that was 3wks ago and my stuff has never turned up.

Perhaps my choice of cliché was wrong but what I meant was that someone with an inferiority complex, be it material or social decided he wanted better gear. The reason I used 'muni' is that it happened to me in 1998 when I was a member of a municiple and some rat took my Callaway warbird driver and stuck the headcover on an old wooden club. I didn't notice this until I drew the big stick on the first tee at the following medal and to be honest I could have cried. £149 was a weeks money then.

As for being offended ..... LISTEN TO YOURSELF MAN ....... you really do have a fragile constitution Parmo.

People get offended when their colour is abused, or when their weight, religion or disability is made fun of but me talking about a muni golf club OFFENDED you !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give me strenghth.

Maybe offended was a little strong, but there are a lot of very good muni's in this country and to tar them all the same I find annoying.

I just think there will be people around whether its a private or municipal clubs that will nick gear.

Where ever I am, I just don't leave gear lying around. Too much temptation. Happens in any club, golf clubs, tennis clubs, squash clubs, you name it, it happens.

Sad, but true.
