Really impressed with this guy on Sky as a guest in studio. Talks and explains things clearly and very well. Puts his points of view across very well.
A few weeks back he was in their "shot centre" hitting driver explaining what he does when he wants to give it a bit extra. He said unlike us he doesn't give it extra at the top on the way down, but starts down normally then focuses on hitting the ball harder just after impact position. He says this helps keeps balanced and things in place. Seems to make sense I'll give it ago next time I play.

I agree he is pretty good. Better than the idiot sitting next to him. He was rubbish when he was on Setanta and has got no better on Sky. Trys too hard to be funny and comes across as smug. I love Rob Lee too. Very knowledgable and very quick with a quip. Sky do need to look at some of their studio guests. Some aren't up to it and others like Dougherty need to be used more

Good studio guest and a very nice guy - just needs to get rid of the mullet :D

Nick is very knowledgable and has seen and done it, good addition to the team, would be even better though if his wife returned to presenting the golf she was excellent and equally as clued up on golf stuff,
NICK is a top bloke and used to see him at SHAW HILL on a regular basis, pity his game has suffered due to personal tragedy,as most people know golf is 90% a mental game,hi misses has taken a bit of time off to look after their new son MAX,but she has done some work for tv and i heard she would be doing some of the ladies tour coverage.

Knew his game had suffered, but what was the personal tragedy?

He lost his Mum to Cancer a year or 2 back - took it very hard

Top bloke though and if his Golf doesn't re-ignite I think he may have found a way to stay in the game.

Good Luck ND

I agree he's a good addition to the Sky team - I can't stand the self-promoting Mark Roe and Dennis Pugh who simply want to tell us how great they are as coaches. They even talk off subject, when there are live feeds on the screen of the active game

He's a good addition to Sky's coverage. I like Rob Lee, but their studio pundits are always so, so dull with no personality and never seem to get their points across in an interesting way. Nice to see a bit of personality from Dougherty, he offers some good insight and a different point of view.

Nick is a top bloke.

A couple of years ago I followed him in the Dunhill at Kingsbarns (the year Chris Evans "won" it) and I slipped and fell. Nick came over to make sure I wasn't hurt.
