My job as a community psychiatric nurse has it's up and downs. It can be very difficult and hard not to invest a little bit too much of yourself in someone else and very easy to forget to keep some of that back for yourself and family.

As technology is taking over parts of our work many of the staff are having issues adapting and I also act as the in-house I.T support.

At the team meeting this morning I got a surprise when my manager thanked me on behalf of the staff and presented me with a voucher for a great little restaurant I've been wanting to try for ages. Wanted to crawl under the table with embarrassment but I was genuinely touched by this gesture.

I've spent the last few weeks feeling pretty useless due to a few issues but this perked me up.

There's a nice restaurant in Omagh?!

What's been going on in my abscence?!

EDIT: Forgot to add my congratulations as well Bob, nice to see hard work being recognised

Well done, you obviously deserved it for helping your colleagues.

Its a shame more managers don't take the opportunity to thank their staff in small ways like this.

At our place we have a canteen and some times odd members of staff are treated to a breakfast free of charge , a small thing but appreciated by all.

Any IT queries Bob, give me a whatsapp. Its what I do!
Well done, wee voucher means you are appreciated.

By I.T queries I'm talking connecting to the printers or showing how to access something on the new payroll system. Often it things like people accidentally hiding menus in outlook. Nothing major but hassle to those that need the help.

The Millstone LD, out the Gortin Road. Apparently there is a place called Red Pepper in the Derg that meant to be awesome as well.

Well done..

But equally well done to the Manager & team for doing this.

Even more well done to the crew if they all chipped in and did it, rather than the firm.

As a 'manager' I know the pressure on numbers and how hot things can get. On one of my previous gigs, we had about 5-6 Sr Managers on the floor and we took turns to get a round of cakes on Friday afternoon for the team. It did not damage the bank, but the team loved it - not so sure how it went down on the waistlines though..

Definately the crew (some of them anyway).
