Newcastle Curry Recommendations

One I got recommended by a food loving pal is Dabbawal, was so good I've been back twice since.
Good pub opposite called Bacchus and loads of other bars (trendy and not so trendy) in the area as well.

You won't go wrong with what has been recommended. Sachins and Akbars are also supposed to be good.

The Bridge Tavern on the quayside is good. The roof terrace unde the Tyne bridge is quality. Brew Dog and Bierrex are also decent.

Stay away from 'the diamond strip' unless you want to rub shoulders with morons from the likes of Geordie Shore

Sachins , forth banks
Vujon , queen st, just off quayside
Are possibly 2 of the best quality ( Indians ) in the city centre

More top restaurants than curry houses though

A very good alternative is Aneesas, ( buffet ) just behind the law courts on quayside, never heard a single negative about the place yet

Dabbawal is pretty good, went to the one in Jesmond, nice but nowt outstanding, Sachin's is very good, but I think you need to book weeks in advance to get in there. Akbars is supposed to be good, not been myself, but I've heard good things about it.

If you go to Akbars, head towards the centre for life bars and the majority are gay bars, head back towards Westgate road and you have Tilleys, The Star, head down Westgate road and you get to the diamond strip, no trainers no matter how expensive allowed in any of the bars (Revolution Bar, Madame Koo's, Floritas, House of Smith, Bijou, Perdu) if you pass all those stop at the Cathedral, look right and you'll see the Castle Keep and High Level bridge, head to the Bridge Hotel loads of ales to choose from. Come out of the Bridge Hotel, walk back towards the cathedral and you'll see a street head down hill (The Side), follow that down, mini round-a-bout, and you'll, find a curry house called the Simla and grab a pint next door in the Crown Posada Google Maps location

Best curry houses are on ocean road in s.shields. It's probably a bit out of the way for you though if near town.

akbars is pretty decent, usually where we head if then going out afterwards. Head from there to Tilly's bar, then down to town wall or somewhere. It's a pretty good place to start your night.

If you're not actually staying in the city centre, let us know the area, there may well actually be better alternatives without going into the city centre.
Plenty areas outside with good restaurants and pubs.

About 20% of city centre pubs, grey st, dean st, the "strip".......aren't proper pubs, more cocktail bars with wannabe wags, or other false people just wanting to be seen in the right places.
The gate and the bigg market are more for 18-19 yr olds that like to fall over and be sick on the roadside
The Pink Triangle ( gay area ) runs from the jury's hotel to centre for life, a very busy nightlife with numerous pubs/clubs.

Not a whole load of "proper" pubs in city centre
But the Bridge, next to the Vermont hotel and high level bridge is definitely a good shout.
A proper pub
Big choice on at the pumps
Often has live music on some nights too

I'm a bit out of date now, married with two kids so Toon nightlife is a bit of a memory, but if you are thinking of the The Bacchus then near to that is The Old George which used to be a top pub. You don't mention the type of pub you want? A proper pub or a wine bar/lager place with women wearing their underwear and little else. Beer or Geordie Shore?
