Newbury afternoon 16th March

Sorry mate, its my turn with taking the kids swimming! You have a good few options though, where are you staying?

Newbury & Crookham - my club, decent tight parkland, quite undulating and a lot tougher than a shortish par 69 would suggest. Green fee should be about 27 quid i think for 18.

Newbury racecourse - now only 9 holes (18 tees) not played it since it was remodelled, its actually closing soon too. Will be find if you just want some fresh air and walk etc. Shouldn't be more than 15 quid i think and the golf club office is inside the Nuffield Gym.

Donnington Grove - Decent course, has been boggy and not as well looked after of late. going to be the priciest i would guess. More a bombers course, and its a long walk too with extended walks between some holes. at least 4 hours for a 2 ball..

Donnington Valley - I love this place, its probably the least regarded in town though, its tough, the whole course is on a hillside basically and placement is everything. Usually very well looked after, can get busy, but typically mornings.

A little further afield, but still within 15 minutes are West Berks, always playable as on the chalk downs, long at par 73 too. Quite well regarded, but not my fav place. Or Sandford Springs, 3 x 9 holes. The woods and the park are my pick, nice hotel on site now too.

Drop me a PM if you want heads up on anything (where to eat, stay, play etc)
