Hi guys, have just returned to golf after nearly 15 years. despite hitting balls on the range for past 3 months I finally ventured out onto the course and shot gross 93. Why is it though, knowing full well you are not going to set the world alight you get so frustrated with bad shots. Thoroughly enjoyed it and cant wait to get out again next week. Already had the wife in my ear informing me she will not put up with being a widow again :(

Welcome. Similar situation to me really. I made a return after about 15 years out of it. Surprised it took you 3 months to get out on the course once you'd started at the range.
As for the wife, well they're only happy when they're moaning.

Welcome along. She'll soon find something else to moan about. I know mine does. I go out on a Saturday morning and come back mid afternoon and she's in a foul mood. I think it can't be me I've not been here!

How true!! lol

Thanks for the welcomes. When I was playing regulary it was minimum 3 times a week. Think she is wary of my old ways returning

Welcome to the mad house!!!

Only three days a week, why is she moaning? Now six days a week I could see her having a reason to think you were being unreasonable (But you wouldn't be being unreasonable) Seven days, well even God had a day off, so while she is having a day off you can nip down the golf for a game.

well that's not bad, less than half the week, can't see what she has to moan about.

if she does start complaining, just dog her all round the house, won't be long before she's screaming for you to get out from underfoot.

I can remember many moons ago when my father used to play on a Sunday and Monday, the only two days he had off work. Well when he retired he was soon getting under my mothers feet and she asked him why he didnt play more golf,

''because I wanted to spend more time with you my love''

she laughed and insisted he played more golf which he duely did by upping his weekly games to four times a week until he reached 80. Then scaled it down to playing only three times a week until he retired from the game aged 86 to look after my mother.

I believe they both felt they had won the mind games they played. Personally i think my father won on away goals.

The great man was 96 last week, happy birthday dad.

The wife being moody when i return from golf is an issue i often have which is why i try to arrange my week so i play when she is working. However, maybe she isn't moody that i was gone for so long but moody that i came back at all.
