Hi all, firstly merry Christmas!

I'm Dan & I've just signed up after realising I've spent the past few hours tirelessly reading through threads! Just getting back into golf after a 2 year break and I want to go all out. I was unsure about signing up until I noticed one poster plays at the same club as me!

I'm 22 and I play at Ullesthorpe court in Leicestershire and I don't have a current handicap right now, however I did play to a 21 on Christmas Eve and I want to break 15 this year for the first time in my life.

Thanks in advance for the welcome!

Thanks guys, first time I've been on a golfing forum and I could see my self sitting here reading all night at this rate, I really have the bug right now

Welcome dan, played Ullesthorpe earlier this year - nice course with very slick greens.

Hope you enjoy the forum.

Hi Dan, former Ullesthorpe member here. It's a great course and with the changes coming next winter it's going to get even better. Do you know anyone at the club already?

Not currently. I was a member here when I was 14-17 but that's when I stopped my membership. Since then most of my old school friends have moved away for work or education. It just had to be Ullesthorpe I came back to though, I had no desire to be a member anywhere else after the memories I had here :)
I want to be competition ready by March/April and naturally I'll meet people by playing or indeed on here!

That will soon wear off sitting on here all night. 😬 Welcome to the mad house. Re the golf if there's owt you need to know don't be afraid to ask.

Thanks guys, just waiting to get out now! Course was closed again today so no golf!
I did however treat myself to a Nike vapour 3 wood which I have set at 17deg to replace my 15deg callaway X series wood and my Wilson fybrid 19.5deg.
Also put an order on for a set of fitted G25 irons, 4-pw with American golf all thigh I've read some rubbish reviews about ordering through them so we will see what happens. just hoping the course is good for tomorrow

Bloody Hell that's ambitious ................................ you've only got four days left!
Oh, and welcome to the nuthouse.
Tuck in, it's hilarious at times and you'll soon learn it's not all about golf in here.

Slime.

Haha you got me! By the end of 2016 though. All dependant on what my first handicap comes back at. I think I was off 18 as a junior off the yellows and even with a few years out I feel I could play to near that now, fingers crossed the course is open in the morning!

Hi Newbie from Leicester, I am also a Newbie in a way I signed up on here almost three ago and then forgot about it, I only remembered because the good folks here were kind enough to wish me happy birthday, which is my 76th today. Well I have been an OAP for quite a while so memory is not always that good. Also I am an Ex Pat living in a place called Newmarket over here in Canada, and believe it or not some nuts were actually golfing around here on Christmas eve, most years we would be at -20C and under a foot of snow but climate change appears to be doing a decent job. Well I guess my next task will be to sign in properly once I find out where to do that, in the mean time Happy New Year to all. ProAmDuffer.

Happy Birthday and and don't be shy posting elsewhere, were talking about Canada in the Holiday thread.

Hi pro am duffer and welcome to the fruitcake shop. Nah 76 is young, not yet old enough to be a mod on here.
if you want to start a new post to say hello to all. Go to the "Lounge" and just click on "start new thread". Then bobs yer uncle.

Welcome along Dan, I'm at Ullesthorpe and may be the poster you mentioned?

It's a very friendly club and I'm sure you'll be welcomed by all. Like most clubs the number of younger members is low so glad to have you along. I'm an old fogey by the way, at least compared to you, but not compared to many on here.

I've stuck my name down for Friday 1st at 11.20 and you're welcome to join me, assuming you've not overdone it on the New Year festivities!
(I think there's a roll-up being organised by the three tee times after me and I'll be looking to be a part of that and I'm sure you'd be included if you wanted to join too. In case you've not heard of it before, a "roll-up" in golf-speak is just a small group of players who will play some form of friendly competition, usually for a couple of quid.)

Hi Crow, yes you were indeed! I may take you up on that offer, I need to get some cards in so I can get an official handicap again, so I need to start playing around with people rather than on my own. I'm just so inconsistent right now! I played first 8 today alone and I was something silly like 14 over, then joined in a 3 ball for the last 10 holes, pared 9 through 15 and got a double on each of the last 3, you couldn't make it up haha. I used to play here a few years back as a junior so I know the club well, just time to try and bring them days back now. And now I'm working and driving I want to check out some other local courses if you have any reccommendations or you want to play somewhere different for a change? The worse thing about playin when I was young was having to get taken to and from Ullesthorpe by my parents and not being able to travel.
