Been playing quite well past few weeks, had a comp on Sunday where I fully expected to go under par and get cut again, but Saturday, sun was out and fancied a few cold ones at lunch...which went on quite late...eesh.

Sunday morning teeing off on the first hole, par 5 with a raging hangover, and no idea it seemed how to swing a golf club. Sliced right into the trees, drop out, topped the next to behind a tree, topped the next, slash, slash..and walked off with a 10. Add in 3 more sevens...what a waste of a chance considering the good weather!

Golf is hard enough without adding that in the mix...live and learn.

It's a lesson I've staunchly refused to learn..

I remember playing a fairly infamous Matchplay game down at Lymm a few years ago. It was the yearly beer festival at my local the day before. I went to the Pub at 1pm just for a couple of hours, at 1am I was still there re-sampling some of the offerings.. Needless to say I lost the game, and also caused so much damage to the tendons in my right arm that I hardly played for the next 2 years..

Beer and golf don't mix..... Try Wine, it's much healthier...:D

The worst one i had was back in my Navy days

Out on a 3 (yes 3) day bender in Malta (Valletta), which culminated in a rum drinking competition with some septics...

Next morning we had a free golf day / diplomatic event which was being hosted by some Maltese VIP's.......

There was no getting away from it so i (and a dozen other drunken sailors) rocked up at the Royal Malta Golf club in an absolute bucket.

No buggy's and nearly 40 degree temperature.....

No idea how i played as i have no recollection of the day, with the exception of vomiting in a pond at some point. It was the worst i have ever been.

Still, i got back on it in the evening

Good days!

Can work the other way too!

Watched England in the rugga on Friday, got in at 1am more than lubricated with dancing juice. Up at 6am, tee'd off at 7:30.... shot level par! Felt ruff and didn't give a thought on how to play, I just hit it! Oh and I had three 3 putts in there too!

I went to the races Saturday and Madness after and to be honest I was hanging to put it politely time we rocked up to the curry house. Woke up about 9.00am yesterday expecting to be getting the last rites and was well enough to go to the club. Head was throbbing and the putter was a little shaky in the hands but a few tablets and a bottle of lucozade (sod the diabetic blood sugars this was life or death) and I was chipping and putting well. It might be the way forward to single figures. Big leaving do in a fortnight on the Friday and monthly stableford on the Saturday so I'll road test this hungover golf and out on the course and report back
