Evening all, bit of a newbie here. I've been lurking around the forum for a while and decided that I may as well say hi.

Recently taken up golf again after not swinging a club since I was a teenager some 20 years ago. Picked up a set of cheap and cheerful clubs from gumtree, been hitting the range and going to talk to a nice lady (well she seems nice in her emails) about potential membership at a club tomorrow! A bit nervous because, on a scale of 1-10, I'm somewhere between god-awful and crap! 😜 I figure the only way to get better is to hit a course regularly. Any advice you'd care to share?

Cheers,

Mark

Hi and welcome.

Joining a club will certainly get you moving in the right direction, get out on the course, speak to and play with as many members as you can, take a few lessons, etc, you'll do fine.

Whereabouts are you playing?

Welcome to the mad house MrF, personally I wouldn't pay big money to join a club right away, play some municipal courses with your mates first, just to get the feel of things again.

Then decide if she's really worth it. :)

Welcome hope you enjoy the adventure. Defiantly get booked in with the club pro for at least one lesson. You don't want to be getting into bad habits or ingraining faults.

Welcome.

Don't worry about how good you are. You'll be surprised at how many golfers that are members are similar or worse.

I joined a club with my brother in law five or six years ago. He's the least naturally talented golfer in history. Genuinely terrible. The club and its members were all very welcoming still so dont worry about that a jot.

Welcome to the forum and hope to see you on some of the forum days in the future.

Golfs a great game for meeting people just hang around the putting green someone will ask you to join in.
enjoy some very clever guys on here if you want anything just ask.

Hey folks, cheers for the welcoming words! I live in Glasgow at the moment, looking at joining Kirkhill GC 15 minutes away in Cambuslang. Had to cancel today's visit because of work, so will need to hold off for a few days. I'm sure there'll be plenty of ups and downs on the way, but strangely looking forward to the challenge!
