Has anyone played this course? Any comments or recommendation?

How does it compare to other Surrey heathland courses?

Cheers,

Paul

Long time ago but doubt much has changed as its a traditional English club

Shorter than many but means 2 rounds on a day ticket wont be exhausting and lunch is good

St Georges Hill nearby better

Still worth playing if the price is right

Nice course, fairly flat, shortish but tight. Very old school - tie for lunch. Prefer West Hill, but NZ still really nice.
Was it not this place got a bit of a hard time over friendlieness of its members or something a short while ago ? worst experience as a guest thread or something like that ? the name sounds familiar .. apologies if im mixing it up

This is a proper "Old School, Gentlemans Golf Club" but none the worse for it. The Pro is a nice guy and very welcoming, I find the members friendly if you approach it the right way (i.e. be nice!) Of the fairly close Heathland courses I would pick Worplesdon for the best all round experience of friendliness, course etc etc. If you get a chance tho, go play it!!!

If I remember rightly while the steward was explaining that the list of names on lockers the course is actually owned by one of the London Clubs

I never found out which one and my Artisan friend hadn't heard of it

Been on my playlist for a long time, but haven't managed to yet though it is about 5 min drive... How are you getting in there?

Richart has been there a few times and can tell more about it..

Yep. That was me and some serious grief from members regarding the colour and styling of my shoes. Mind you a while back and I've been back since. Turns out one of our members is a chef there and so has given up his RA membership as he gets use of the course and I get members guest rates. Very old fashioned club, tie for lunch etc. Not the longest course but still tricky in places. If I wanted an old fashioned course I'd prefer West Hill
