Afternoon everyone. Just a quick question. Will you be doing anything new this year in terms of your approach to golf? Swing overhaul, new clubs, play specific courses, wearing bland colours instead of retina scorching clobber (murph and viscount I'm looking at you ;) )

I really find the short game enjoyable so I've decided that's what I'm going to work on. The last couple of years I've worked on the full swing and not had much fun! So...

I'm trying a new teaching pro who specialises on the short game, committing to ten minutes putting practice everyday, trying to not worry about my handicap and instead have as much fun on the golf course as possible :)

The only real thing I want to do more of this year is range work, with my woods through long irons.

This is where my game lacks at the minute and I'm determined to make it work.

Range work over the winter trying to combat my over the top swing. Early video evidence suggests that it's better but not completely gone. Seems to be moving me in the right direction as I struck the ball on the course yesterday better than I have in months and was even drawing the ball.

That will continue until the weather picks up again. Once I can get out on the course, I will be concentrating more on my short game through the "season" which will hopefully save me on occasions that my swing completely falls to bits.

Pursuing Stack and Tilt as early signs are that it is working a treat for my game.

Then short game, short game, short game.

Handicap cut is easily in sight if I work on the chipping and putting.

Make my club's scratch team.

Win a board comp at my club.

Shoot level par or better gross score, even if in a social game.

That'll do for now....

Fitness and better living.

Going to go to the gym, eat better, stop smoking and stop drinking (Alcohol and Coffee).

This should make me a much better golfer and I should be loaded as the cost of the last two far outweighs the first two.

Almost done 1 day so far!!!!!

Nice work mate! Keep it up!

Probably start gym work again to try bulk up a little before season and lots of short game work all from around the green to 130 yards from the green, alot of work on fairway woods too because its terrible at the moment.

New clubs probably include a new hybrid and 46 degree wedge hopefully :)

putting could do with a tweek, but if not then its just my long to mid irons that need sorting. im missing to many greens on approaches and then scrambling good scores.

i'm just going to work really hard on my game and play as many gents opens as i possibly can.i'll be working at balfron golf club from april onwards and i feel this will help my game as i'll practise everyday after work for an hour.

I'm going to work on the short game and putting as much as possible and try and maintain it, as soon as I stop practising it goes downhill.
I've also decided to offload my Titleist 910 d2 after hitting up against a Ping g20 at the range.
The Ping with the stock stiff tour shaft goes like a rocket for me, great ball flight and so much more consistent than the 910.

I'm going to try very, very hard to enjoy playing badly :D

I was thinking of persuing the 'scratch' goal but right now I can hardly walk without pain. Might have to knock 100yds off my drives and settle for 305

If you are running a book Steve, put me down for two days.

I won't be doing anything different on the course, but I will be working on my long putting and short game. 3 putts are costing me a couple of shots a round at the moment and failing to get up and down from simple green side positions another couple. If I can sort that out who knows how low I can go
