I have been collecting golf memorabilia now for over 10 years. I hope one day to display my collection and have for the last year been putting together a website to display my items in a 'virtual' on-line museum.
Finally I launched my site in September 2011. I hope you can take a little time out to visit it and have a look. There are over 200 pages with thousands of images.
Would appreciate any feedback or even better if you have any items you think would enhance my collection!
I will be updating the site regularly so please bookmark my site.
Also feel free to let as many of your friends know about my site.
Thanks,
Gary

Thank you. Lots of nice stuff on there. I enjoyed looking at the Major winners' - clubs, irons, wedges and putters especially. Love Bobby Locke's putters - leather grip, hickory shaft, plain thin bladed head. He was acknowledged as one of the best putters ever. Wonder what he would think of some of the exotic designs available nowadays.

very interesting information on there, well done, looks like its taken you a long time to put together.

Couple of points to help which I hope you dont mind me saying.

1) The site isnt iPad compatable, ie the whole menu isnt visible via iPad
2) Spell checker before publishing to the website would be good.
3) You have the website name Scottishgolfmuseum.co.uk your email should also be that and not Orange.net
4) Quite a few links to pictures arent going where they say, plus any pictures should be clickable to bring up a larger version as some are difficult to make out any detail.
5) is it just Scottish Golf or general golf, need to make it clear on the home page what the goal/aim of the Scottish Golf Museum is
6) I assume the home page pics are part of your collection? if so make them clickable to a larger image and say what they are. Impressive collection, hope you have good insurance.

sorry if any of these comments seem negative, just trying to help as I know what its like setting up a website, theres always room to improve.

good luck and thanks for sharing with us.
P.S maybe worth emailing Mike Harris the GM editor to let him know and get his ok to promote your site on his site, just as a courtesy.

Excellent Gary , will have closer look later very well done ...

Guys have a peek into the PERSONAL GOLF BALLS & scroll down to the 2nd of the 2 video clips together , darren clarke .. it shows a leaderboard of harrington & clarke at the start , listen to the comment regarding lost ball .. & the ruling by BIG john P ..

Thanks for all your encouraging feedback! I really appreciate it. I must emphasise the site is not a business, simply a site to display my own personal collection of golfing memorabilia.

It is my first ever attempt at setting up a website, so hopefully you will allow me a few mistakes! It took over a year from starting with that blank page to finally launching the site. It will be a work in progress and I will continue to update it and improve as and when time allows. Only last week I scanned/photographed another 500 images which I hope to add over the next few months.

With regard to some of the more specific points:

1) The site isn’t iPad compatible, i.e. the whole menu isn’t visible via iPad

Yikes! I need to look into this. Has anyone any suggestions?

2) Spell checker before publishing to the website would be good.

I will go through the site over the next few weeks/months and try and resolve the mistakes.

3) You have the website name Scottishgolfmuseum.co.uk your email should also be that and not Orange.net

I didn’t realise this was possible. I already have an Orange email account and simply took out a second email address through them.

4) Quite a few links to pictures aren’t going where they say, plus any pictures should be clickable to bring up a larger version as some are difficult to make out any detail.

Again as I go through the site I will check every link. When I originally was developing the site I had the images at original size. As the site progressed it took around 15 minutes to open the programme as it was pulling the images from my external hard drive! Eventually it wouldn’t load at all. I then re-sized all the images to facilitate the actual site. It is my intention to look at the images again.

5) is it just Scottish Golf or general golf, need to make it clear on the home page what the goal/aim of the Scottish Golf Museum is

I will be updating the front page soon for greater impact. I will look at re-wording the text then

6) I assume the home page pics are part of your collection? if so make them clickable to a larger image and say what they are. Impressive collection, hope you have good insurance.

Thanks, again I will look at this when updating the page

Please don’t apologise I am grateful that you have not only clearly taken the time to view my site but have given me very constructive comments. Thanks.

Email sent this afternoon.

Thanks again to all who have visited, and for all your positive comments. I am glad I can share my ‘obsession’ with you!
Very best wishes,
Gary

I would suggest using Wordpress as your hosting software. Very easy to manage and with most of the available themes, would look grand on todays small screens/devices.
