That's one of the beauties of it I think. Or to put it another way - that's how it gets you! In all other solo pursuits it feels like perfection is possible - a 300 game in bowling, a 147 in snooker, a nine-darter, etc etc. But no one has ever played 18 holes and made 18 birdies I shouldn't think, let alone shoot 36 under which would be roughly the lowest theoretically possible score (holing every approach shot for eagle/HIO). You can always strive for better.The biggest problem with golf is we all want to be good at it.
It doesn’t matter how good you are everyone wants to be a bit better.
We have seen world number ones, Ryder cup players, major winners all totally lose their game in an effort to be a little bit better.
It’s the hardest mind numbing soul searching sport ever invented.
And not one of us here would change it.
I’m still think starting out was my favourite period in the game.
You have so much to look forward to that you don’t even know about yet.
