Hi all,

In the market to replace my current 3 wood and I've heard amazing things about these 915 woods. Does anyone play with it or does anyone think especially highly of other woods. Also does anyone know the difference between the 915d and the fd. (currently sitting on a 20 handicap if that is a factor)

Thanks

I assume you mean the 915f not the 915d

The 915f is a larger head, higher launch, more forgiving. The fd is quite a specialist club aimed at high swing speed low hcap players. Apparently even so the 915f is getting more love on tour.

I would be looking at the 915f.

I have a 915f 3 wood but I've not hit it enough in an on course situation yet to talk about it. Potentially it's an awesome and easy club to hit.

The Ping G30 was also a bit good but the tour stiff shaft seemed weak.

I think the stock and possibly boring answer is that there is no bad 3 wood nowadays. And it is best to get fitted and find one that you get on with, as they will all go much the same distance and be roughly as easy to launch. So whilst the Titliest fan boys will gush about the 915, the Ping fanboys will gush about the G30 and the Callaway fanboys will gush about the current Callaway 3 wood this week etc etc.

Don't discount the 915fd, I preferred it to the normal f as it had a smaller head and sat nicer behind the ball for me, it also launched lower which I was looking for as if anything my woods go too high for the links course I play on
