Hi guys,

Pretty much just found out that the 714 series of Titleist Irons will be released and available in early November!

I have been eyeing a set of the 712 AP1's or AP2's in order to upgrade from my Nike 2010 Slingshots however think I may now wait for the 714 series!

Who else is planning on gaming these when they come out and which will you go for?

Neat looking clubs I must say

What draws you to them? Will you be buying new?

For one I def like the look of them.

I am an 18 handicap (down from 28 since last May without any lessons) and thinking of upgrading to a better set of Irons. Have always been a fan of Titleist and their products but have owned any clubs from them. I consider myself a good striker of the ball and when I had the chance to hit my mates 712 AP1 last weekend I jumped at the chance! And they felt really good, solid and I though the feel was exceptional (compared to what I currently game).

I want to improve further and lower my handicap further and my next set of irons will certainly be for the long term and I want to make sure the right set. Of course I will be looking at getting a custom fitting in order to get the most out of them. I also want to have a couple of lessons with the golf pro at my local to obtain his advice also.

Any other tips on things I should do before making a decision?

Sounds fair.... I would try everything though. No I would not, I would pick from the Mizuno range but my advice is try everything else :)

The guys are going for their fitting this week! Can't wait to hear the feedback!

They have just been given new Titleist irons and a day out... they are not going to feed back anything other than how awesome they and the day was.... Sorry to be that guy. Get in a fitting bay and see what you think. I would buy a ferrari with your money but I would buy a Mondeo with my own.

Karl, see you game a Titleist 913D2 driver! How does that play? Was thinking of changing my Covert for one of those! Is it worth it?

I use a 913 D2 too, it is very predictable but I have read the same about the Covert. Both score very high in accuracy.

I love it. The stock shaft options are great. I nearly went for the diamana blueboard shaft but the phenom gave me a better flight. They are also pretty forgiving, aimed at all handicaps. Defo put it on your try out list if your getting a new one!

I always try as many clubs as I can when looking to change, or just going through that hankering period. If you want to try the 712 against the 714 you'll start to get the 712's at a good price if you go down that road

HimID got the AP1's the other week. His fitting included Ping and Taylormade as well. He did wonder about waiting to try the new ones but the figures, results and price were so good with the AP1's he decided just to get those. He's changed from some really old Nike's aka a bag of spanners as the Pro called them.

Thinking of getting some new AP2's when they are released as my current set of KZG's is now 11 years old. However, I have read that the lofts have been tweaked to be stronger. If this is the case and Titleist won't set them to the lofts I want then I will be off to a custom club maker for some more KZG's or Orkas. (I have had an Orka rescue for five years so I know what they are like).

Ya.... What Fundy said.....

Have you seen how many irons in the Mizuno range at the moment... Something for everyone!!! :D

I'm not a pusher really, anything made by Mizuno or Titleist is fine...:)

Yeah the Covert is nice but i aint consistent enough with it! Think i need to get it re-shafted to a heavier weighted shaft. The stock 50g kuro kage (stiff) doesn't seem to help!
