1st of all Happy New Year to everyone.

With me coming back to the sport after a long sabatical curiosity got the better of me and I purchased a new driver to see if there would be a significant difference to my old but very trustworthy TM Steelhead.

I wanted something that had full adjustability but wasnt going to cost me a fortune.

I ended up buying a TM R1, so not brand new tech but a significant move forward on my old driver.

Have to say the tinkering element was very addictive but I got it dialled in pretty quickly. Also noticed the shaft was an inch longer that will make a difference too.

Used it for the 1st time last week and fell in love with it straight away. My 2 best hits of the day that to be fair were on holes that go downhill were 300yds+ and due to the course being soaking my ball was right next to my pitchmark.

The strike, ball flight - everything just felt completely different and Im getting significantly more distance.

So it would seem that things have moved on a lot more after all.

Weren't Steelheads made by Callaway?

I think you are going to enjoy finding out how much things have changed. Drivers certainly have come a long way in the last 10 years. So much much more technology and choice in shafts as well now. Try out some more recent fairways and, dare I say it, a hybrid and you may need to change at least part of your signature. :)
