So I took the plunge and bought a pair of adidas tour 360 boa x yesterday. These are the ones with no laces, instead they use a dial to tighten them in place by using wire. Footjoy did/have a similar method.
So my question to you well informed people is have you had any experience with this time of mechanism ?

only on my snowboard boots.....dial in until its tight. Job done.

Same as above, have them on my snowboard boots. Nice easy system to use, though relatively easy to over tighten, just find a spot which is comfy

I bought a pair of Adidas Boost with the Boa thing. The system is great, where Adidas have put it on this shoe (on top of the tongue) is stupid and uncomfortable (to me at least) and catches the bottom of your trouser leg all the time which is annoying.

Footjoy have done it much better with the dial on the heel IMO, I do like how it works though.

Agree. - I have the Boa on a pair of DNA and DJ Casual and they are superb - didn't like it where it is on the Adidas

I've never really understood the point of BOA shoes. You have to pay around £20 extra but you still have to put them on and bend down to tighten/loosen them. Tieing a pair of shoelaces isn't that demanding.

Or am I missing something ?

I have a pair of FJ Contour with BOA. I find the system tightens very evenly compared to laces, which I find sometimes are tight at the top and loose towards the bottom.

Hell if some of you are that lazy that you can't tie a pair of laces why not get them stretch laces that Danny Willet used when he won the masters, no tying or tightening needed. Job done.

Wow - people being judged lazy because they use a boa system ?!?

I don't have shoes with Boa system because I'm too lazy - I like them because they make the shoes fit nice a snug , they stay the right tightness for the whole round and I think it's a pretty good system

Is it mumsnet time ?

Just about to retire my 4th pair of FJ Contour BOA's. And in the hunt for another pair, and might consider the Adidas.

Lazy? Everyone that uses a car is lazy - who's a Luddite?

Seriously though, my back is like glass due to a car accident. Not having to bend over to tie my shoes is a bonus.

My Brother in Law had a pair of these and he hated them after a week..... caught the bottom of his favourite trousers and pulled out some thread.... I would imagine that doesn't happen that often though....

Hmm having second thoughts now, might change them for a pair with laces. Purely cause I think the wheel might be annoying keep catching on the trousers

Well....I think I'm gonna keep the shoes, they feel extremely comfortable.
Tried them on with my golf trousers and Galvin Green waterproofs, with no issues no catching on the bottoms

👌

The Boa system works. I've no qualms with it as a system, it's just the look with the wheel sticking off the back of the heel I didn't like and think it looks wrong irrespective of which brand you look at

I don't like the look, and it's a solution to a problem I just don't have. I'm more in the can't be bothered to lace them up, so I'll leave them undone camp.

I had some FJ's a couple of years back, cant remember model, but whilst enjoying the quick put on and securing found that if being a bit kift I caught the mechanism a few times which undone the wires and released the shoe. This occured when crouching times to look at a put line and trousers getting caught when walking. Good points for when feet swelled in summer. The better half had the same shoes - not same colour or model before the shell suit and kagoul brigade start but enjoyed them.

Wouldn't really knock boa but rush back either.

Understand from recent searches as I've just bought new shoes there's velcro fastening options out there. For me that is sad just as street wear is!

Cheers, Fade

Lol, thought he'd pipe up somehow!
Understand sarcasm.
keep your snugness....
