Well firstly, thanks very much to GM and Yonex for the recent fitting of Yonx irons. They arrived today and look just as good as they did on the day.

And as a treat to myself, decided to invest in a new putter.

Can't wait for the weekend to try it all out now.

I'm excited by all of the new gear to be honest. Funnily enough I spotted the Scotty when I was at Silvermere for the Yonex fitting. It really suits my eye having using a Taylormade Ghost Raylor putters for the past few years. I am much more a fan of the mallet style and was never keen on the Futura X range, but then saw this and fell in love.

And got to say, the picture doesn't do the irons justice, they look fantastic in the flesh.

I'm quite surprised at the lack of love for the Scotty. I think it's a thing of beauty!!

Each to their own though I suppose.

Definitely better looking than what I had before I think.

Good luck at the weekend and am keen to hear your feedback . The irons look great and your course is fantastic. I love Chelmsford Golf Club and the greens in the Summer are as good as anywhere. Shame CGC's finest Lloyd Kennedy didn't make it through Q School and by the looks of his latest tweets he has fallen out of love with the game .

Thanks Drewster can't wait to put them into play. I saw in a previous post you used to be at Forresters.

Both myself and Swanny32 (New driver thread) have recently (within the last 18 months) left there to join different clubs. How long ago was you there?

I was there for a couple of years until two years ago when we moved up to Lincolnshire. Twas easy for me as I lived in Maldon and my best mate joined at the same time and is still a member. Always thought it was a decent club , not too pretentious, both loops of 9 beginning and starting at the clubhouse, a bit dangerous on the back field but decent value nonetheless. Why did you guys move on ????

We moved on to go to better courses mainly. I went to Chelmsford as it's round the corner from where I live and the course is fantastic. Swanny went to The Essex along with about 8-10 other "Colt" members as they offered a good deal, and includes membership to the gym and spa facilities along with the golf course.

Who was your best friend who is still a member? We probably know them as we were on the committee there for a season or 2. probably know you too. lol

Maybe harsh but don't like the look of them at all - remind me of the John Letters T series

But hope they do the stuff on the course for you

when did Yonx start doing irons?

Ages ago!

Back when/before Monty was a player to be scared of - he used them for a while (at least Yonex ones )

@OP. Not my cup of tea (nor are RBZs/X22 etc that they resemble), but if they work for you....

I thought the same when I saw pictures, as I'm used to the thin top line of my MP58s. However, they do have a relatively thin top line, and are very forgiving. I used to have X22's and they are nowhere near as chunky and do not have the massive offset they had too. I was very sceptical at first, but they have won me over.

And like you say, if they work on the course then great!!
