Hi guys, 1st post to this site and keen to find out some opinions from people of how this would affect them and also if the concept would be something that would be used by you?

Question is, what is it? For the answer check out www.break90.co.uk

In the interests of clarity, I would like to confirm that I am in no way connected to this product or the OP.

Break90

p.s. I"ve looked on the website and I think it's pointless

Eeeek I hope its a concept as it does not look like a business to me. I made a few clicks on your website and am still not clear what you do. I would make it a lot more clear, quicker if I were you, internet users get board remarkably quickly.

Also.... Break 90... cant be for me, I have already broken it! Did you just alienate all the people who have and will believe its not for them?

Care to tell us in a short paragraph what you do? Although I am guessing this will be deleted pretty quick.

p.s. I haven't got a bloody clue what it is

My very first thought was, I wonder if Break90 can sue for using his brand name.... :D

I've sussed out what it is...it's a replacement for the Mars bar selling assistant pro in the shop.......right? Does it have a handicap of 4 or lower?

From what I gather, it's essentially a multifunctional pod that acts as vending machine (food, drink, tees, gloves etc) and has a few tvs attached on the outside.

Looks to me like the sort of thing that would do very well at an airport or motorway service station, but would go against everything people love about golf, chiefly the social interaction and atmosphere in the clubhouse.

Also, as others have pointed out, a luxury product should surely have an aspirational name, not one that draws images of a bad day at the office for a large chunk of golfers.

I quite like the concept and would free up the pro to interact with clients that need advice or are buying clubs etc. A vending machine for the little things you need without having to tie the pro up.

I spotted an advert for this watching Europro and tried to google it with predictably no success, every hit is "how to break 90" or "my story of breaking 90" or even some snooker links.

From a marketing p.o.v. it's terrible and it's really just a vending machine with a tv and coffee maker. As for putting Bushnells etc in, I can't remember the last time I put more than a couple of quid in a vending machine, or bought something worth £250 without trying to get a discount, which the machine won't offer.

that said, one of my first posts here was asking if a club could survive with a vending machine for the basic crisps and drinks and smaller essentials.

A complex vending machine. I'm out. Simple vending machines are fault prone enough without trying to give web access, coffee, flog overpriced chocolate etc.
No wisecracks, grip fitting, advice etc that a well run proshop provides so doesn't really add any value to a club.
It miight work at an unattended driving range though not many of them are about.
