With the winter season soming to an end, I have taken the plunge and decided to replace my irons, my driver (cheers again GM!) and one of my wedges.
I could possibly have continued on with what I have but firmly believe that I was not getting the best out of my clubs, my main problem being the slightly too stiff TaylorMade irons. I have had my fair share of success this off season (from 9.2 to 2.0 in net and +2 in gross) but want to do better where it counts, handicap qualifying competitions. So its out with the TM RAC LTs, mizuno 60 degree LW and begrudgingly, the Srixon driver (which is still for sale). Replacing these clubs, Titleist AP2 4-pw, Mizuno MP600 driver (stiff fujikura, 9.5 degs) and an MD Players ND low bounce milled 50 deg wedge.

So, what is on your wishlist and what has a possibility of making it into your bag?

Just bought a set of Ping S59's 3 -PW, stiff in green dot, total impulse buy without trying them, they are the exact same spec and set up as my current Ping Eye 5. Just picked them up and began drooling like Homer Simpson over donuts!

They sit and look georgous.

Also bought two MD Cobalt wedges in 52 and 58 degrees and a Nike Sasquatch 7 wood!

Quite a turnaround in kit, hopefully it will pay off!

well, thing is, i have just changed my grip and now am a bit worried that all the kit i have just bought might not suit my new swing. I had a cobra f speed driver and was slicing the hell out of it, bought an fti and cured it. Picked up bro-in-laws cobra tonight and hit it better than i ever have.

They have added a couple of new colours thats all, 1.5 degrees flat (purple) and a couple of others the colours and the settings are the same mate. They have added a .5 to the most common fittings I beleive in order to stop them having to make so many manual adjustments!

Hoping for a more settled bag this year as am happy with most of what I have. Just changed my 3 wood to a Tayloremade Burner as wanted something that I felt more comfortable with off the fairway (new course does not require a 3 wood off the tee).

The only likely change is on the recommendation of my pro to try using a 10.5 degree driver again. Am looking around the options at the moment but yet to make a decision. Liked the Wilson Staff Spine Driver, tempted to have a go with a square headed driver or may just go back to the clubfitter who built my driver and have a lower loft head put on.

GB72, the original burner wood (ie copper coloured)? I was playing with a fella on sunday who although not at all long off the tee was hitting one of these as his second shot on the longer par 4s and 5s with pretty good success on the accuracy front.

Looking at the titleist website tonight, theres quite a lot of their pro players using these ap2's which surprised me considering they hafve two types of blades this year too.
Adam scott, steve stricker, larry mize, mark o'meara and a load of others. One that made me smile was billy mayfair, he uses the AP1s which are designed for med to high handicappers.

Just "acquired" a Cleveland Hi Bore XLS 10.5 degree with draw bias. Not sure I needed the bias but going to give it a run out on Wednesday.

For the new season I'm looking for a 5 wood, a reliable driver and some new footjoys (think my sweet grey haired mother is buying them as an early birthday present)

Just a new Titleist 907 D1 due to the illegality of my old Taylor Made Burner.

I'm in the market for a couple of wedges as I only carry 12 clubs and have a 48 deg wedge and a 56 deg Sw so a 52deg and a 60deg wedge would fit the bill. Anyone got any recommendations ?

Same quality as the titleist vokey spin mills, diffent clubhead shape slightly and I have been told the md has a longer lasting milled face compared to the rusting spin mill. I have one of each, one 50deg md and one 56 deg spinmill so time will tell I suppose.

What kind of distance do you get from the 50deg and the 56deg ?

I can get 135yds from my 48deg wedge and 100yds from my 56deg SW. I am looking for 120yds and 80yds for my two new wedges.

Our 17th is 149 yds and on Sunday It was a pw to the centre of the green, titleist ap2 with 48 degrees. This was with a bit of a wind behind and across and I hit it to a few feet, the 50degree only travels around 110 yds due to the amount of cbackspin it piles onto the ball, the sw goes almost the same distance, I practice with it from 100yds and closer.
I am now learning to use my 8 and 9 irons to do the same job as the pw if im playing into a wind that requires a slightly lower shot that, if short, will bounce on an extra couple of yards rather than stop dead in its tracks.

No new equipment for me. I have decided to spend my money on a course of lessons with the local pro. Very happy with my equipment line-up and felt lessons would do me more good than hacking away down a range all winter and then deciding that I wanted a new driver/set of irons/hybrid/putter etc etc. As a compulsive new equipment buyer, I'm very pleased with my self descipline.

Good man driverman, some good restraint being displayed there, generally I tend to stick with what I have due to confidence, financial or even just plain old laziness, this past year I played like a jessy and have promised mywself to make as much of an improvement as possible. This past few weeks I have been thinking about how my interclub performances stank to high heaven and how I got off to a good start winning a gross competition then fell to bits, this year will be different, no pregnant wife to worry about as the little un is now 8 months old and doing great so now I might run to the range for 30 mins on the way home from work some nights each week.

I'm with Driverman - spend the dosh on lessons and more practice. Maybe there'll come a time when new and better clubs will be of use to me - but for now, it ain't the clubs at fault. And we'll see what effect sawing the top two inches off my putter does. Anyone else got less than 28 inches?

For me its lessons and more lessons, I really need to learn a solid reliable swing and approach to the entire game. 2 good shots out of 3 just ain't good enough, its the 3rd shot that does the damage!
