Now it may not seem a great score to some of you on here, but breaking a 100 has been my nemesis since starting to play golf seriously in March of this year (previously I had only been playing to have a laugh with mates and a few beers afterwards, so never really cared how well, or badly I was playing).

Last night I broke 100 with a 99 (sadly this means I was still 2 over my 28 handicap) but still I am chuffed to bits, especially with my short game, I am normally a serial duffer when 50 yards from the green I will go for the green with chip bottle it at the last second and send the ball all of 10 yards, but not last night.

I think the biggest positives that I can take from last night is that I played the 4 par 3 holes really finishing +4 on those, and the fact that I still managed to hit 99 with 3 7's and 2 8's on my card, I know that those 5 holes were poor and if I had been less ambitious with my shot selections I could have carded at worst 3 6'5 and 2 5's meaning I would have shot 94.

I was quickly falling out of love with golf with a string of poor rounds previously but I am so back in love with it now I need to get out again today, sadly work is in the way.

top work fella.... I remember when I first broke 100, chuffed to bits. 18 months down the line I'm now disappointed if I dont break 90....keep working hard and it'll come.

One of my normal playing partners has never broken 100....always let down by 3 or 4 holes and I know how much it frustrates him.

Well played fella.

My last 5 rounds have been 93 95 92 90.

Last night scored 91 with a points tally of 36... And never parred a single hole.

6 tmes i hit greens in reg. 5 times I 3 putted and the other was a great birdie.

It was a bizarre round.

I will break 90 sooner rather than later.. Saturday I hope.

I got 36 points last night, confident of winning my £3 (£1 for front, back and overall score), until one of playing partners pulled out 42 points having played to 82 which is 13+ off is handicap of 19 - gutted, but I'll take 36 points as I am told that that is par round in terms of stableford.

Well done mate, :clap::thup:
Its this last paragraph that tickled me. You are now officially hooked. There is no going back now. "Yer doomed i tell yer" :lol:

Well played and congrats on the PB. Now you've done it once and know you can do it you'll soon be heading towards breaking 90.
Keep up the good work and enjoy. :thup:

Congratulations.

And that is why golfers, love golf. Being despondent to being elated. One good shot or one good round can change the mindset completely. I'm no-one to advise but next time you go out don't put pressure on yourself to hit 98. Just enjoy it like you did today and hopefully the scores will start to balance out in your favour.

Feels great when you 1st do it...... If your anything like me you will flirt with it for a while then be heading towards trying to break 90..... Only done it once myself, not managed it at my home course... Which is a bit tight!!!
