Yes it's off winter tees and fairway mats and it was only a bounce game but I'm still counting it!!

Birdie 3 at the last for a gross 80 which is a net 61 off my 19 handicap. Double bogey, bogey on 16 & 17 wrecked my chance of a 79 but as 85 is my next best score to date, I can't be too unhappy about a gross 80.

Cue the cries of "bandit" :D

I won't cry bandit as I assume you played a very shortened course and had an artificial lie for every shot.

Look forward to your posting a PB under 'normal' course conditions.

My PB on the full course is 85 but haven't got anywhere near that in a medal yet.

Congratulations on a PB

Had a trip to St Andrews Links driving range (what a facility) at lunchtime and was hitting the ball well with the five and seven irons plus a couple of drivers there - headed back to Monifieth in the rain and considered going into the house and logging on here. I don't get to play on a Saturday much though so got the brolly (not needed) and wandered out to the Ashludie course.

Didn't hit the ball well at all (apart from one drive and a couple of irons) and didn't hole a single putt - didn't have a second putt more than four feet though (;oats of six inchers) and holed them all - shot 41 which I'd have been delighted with a couple of months ago - there's a good score waiting to happen here - I can see progress.

Well done. As you say its a shorter course and off mats but at least you are a) able to play. We're waterlogged and shut and b) You're swinging well.

I wouldn't worry about the double and bogey at 16 and 17. Off your handicap that will happen. Concentrate on what you did well and enjoy the feeing of a good score. I assume you took the money

Congrats on the PB. You can only play the course that's put in front of you.

Also shot 80 last week for my PB in similar conditions, didn't know the score until in the bar and then straight away starting going through the silly shots that could have had a round in the 70's. All my recent scores have been starting with an 8 rather than a 9 so hoping I can keep it up to the new season and get a decent cut this year.

Well played but don't get too carried away.
Make sure you let us know your score on the first medal of the year played off full length tees with no preferred lies.
If it is within 10 shots of today's score you will have done well.

Had quite a few sub 90's in bounce games last year but best score out of all the comps I played last season was 92, so breaking 90 in a medal would be most welcome.
