Just getting back in to golf again after 3 years away from playing, i'm probably going to join Preston golf club in Lancashire, so though this would be a good place to come and talk golf

thinking of a possible change to my irons
i currently have Mizuno MX15
any views on these?

Welcome, sure you’ll fit right in providing you don’t ‘golf’ with a black glove or wear a hat indoors, carry a DMD or ride a buggy, use a ball retriever or own a chipper

I think the stock answer to such questions is get fitted and/or see a local pro. There's isn't such a thing as a bad golf club nowadays, they all go mostly the same distance if you hit them in the right place. And what works for one person may not work for someone else. But of course some may be more suited to your game, and that's where a pro will help you out.

I've heard that if your irons are over 5 years old you will probably see a difference with new clubs. But then again if you swing like an octopus playing the bagpipes like I do then clubs will make little difference and lessons are probably a wiser investment to begin with. But where's the fun in that....

And welcome aboard, but I'd warn you to take a deep breath before entering some of the thread in the Out Of Bounds section. And make sure you have a view on dress codes, as it's compulsory on here.

GregBWFC is a member of Preston on here (cracking course). He's a good lad, but take no notice if he says in a loud booming voice "you'll be fine there" it will either be behind a tree, in a hazard or OOB.

He's at a meet at Wallasey this Sunday, with a load of others from the NW, some of whom are also first time attenders, if you fancied coming along. Its in the "arrange a game" section.

Unfortunately i'll be at the open day at preston gc having a hack then all be well be taking up club memebership, hopefully meet up with new golfers at preston and around NW
