New member of the Sub 80 club signing in

What a round I had today. OK it was on winter greens but while they offer a slightly shorter course they are damm hard to hit and the putting is not as predicatble. maybe it wouldn't count in any comp but I am still very very pleased.

Went out in 38 (par 35 each nine).

After 4 holes of the back nine I thought I had completey blown it and was 7 over - incuding a destructive 8 on the SI 1 par 4!!!

Then managed the last 4 holes in 1 under par to hit a 41 back and total of 79.

Woot!!!

I was sure I had blown it so didn't really think to hard about my score so was over the moon when I realised.

Big grats to JustOne - the Shawn Clement clip and the discussion on the 'extra 20 yards' really realy helped today

What do you think - do I qualify??

If I was being harsh then I'd say no on a short course and temps but on the other hand anyone coming back like that deserves some sort of recognition. I'll leave it to you and your conscience to decide if you really think you've full sub 80 membership or just have affiliate membership instead

Course you do Phil, you hit a fairly consistent ball and Id never have thought you hadnt broke 80 before. Just repeat it on the big course to make doubly sure!

Nice one big milestone to get past! I have managed a round of 80 but still haven't beaten it yet.

Well played Hickory. The fact that you did that with an 8 on your card proves how consistent you must've been for the other 17 holes. Great work. Fingers crossed you can do it in a comp. That'd be a tasty cut!!
