My Taylor Made Burner driver is illegal in '08 and my Footjoys have now ended their 5th year and are almost dead. I am also reduced to playing Stratas and the like as all the Pro Vs have gone.

I reckon a decent driver is £200 and £70 should get me the shoes leaving a few quid for some Titleists.

Am I close to the mark with the £ estimates or way off? I haven't bought much kit recently, Titleist DCI irons are 11 years old and still great.

Also, any recommendations for the driver and shoes.

ta. :D

You can pick up a new Ping g5 for £150 at greaves sport in Glasgow. Footjoys Dryjoys are £75 at D.W.Golf in Hamilton and I will send you some 'previously loved and lost' ProV1's if you want.

What is the post code for the moon???????????????

Ping G5 for £150 seems worth a try and £75 for the Dryjoys is about what I had planned to spend.

The moon has no postcode, just lots of space dust and craters.

You can also pick up a Taylormade R7 460 for £149.99 on Directgolf. Not a bad price and they have a number of pairs of shoes on sale as well so worth a look

Why not buy 2 pairs of shoes. You can get great shoes for £40 nowadays and two pairs will last more than twice as long as one. Pick up a nice driver on ebay for £85 and squander the rest on loose women.

How are people going to identify who are still using illegal drivers when the change comes into effect?

Is the Pro going to check everyone's bag before play - the committee inspects bags on completion of round? I think that come next season there will still be a large number of illegal drivers in use at clubs around the land.

If you know what your after it might be worth checking out golfbidder. There are good deals to be had there for drivers, I picked up a couple pairs of Adidas shoes for £50 that lasted me a couple of seasons. That was from onlinegolf.co.uk at the time - I'm sure come the end of the season deals will be flying around left right and centre.

To answer Marko77 about who will check your club--It is up to each player to ensure he is playing the correct clubs just like each player is expect to be be aware of the rules and call a foul on himself if appropriate.

Secondly your opponent in a match may seek to have your clubs checked to ensure they are legal-If illegal you will lose the match.
The R&A website has a list of illegal and legal clubs together with photos.
