Hello,

New to the forum :)

I've recently started back up golf after a 5 year absence.

I've only played the local 9 hole course that is fairly short but shot under 50 the 4 times I have played.

There are a few things I want to ask your help on to get me off to the right start.

Technology has gone mad so I was wandering if it would benefit me in anyway.

Is it worth going to the range and using the Golf simulator to find out distances of clubs then get a range finder.
Or should I wait until I've been playing more.

Here is what's in the bag:

Driver - n/a
3 wood - Tech flight
5 wood - Tech Flight
I use 2004 Nike Slingshot irons 3 - PW, I love these.
SW - Tech flight
60* Dunlop Wedge (love this)
Putter - Slazenger - (super heavy) hate it haha

Putter wise i'm thinking of upgrading this first. I really like the Taylor made Daytona Rossa.

Will any other upgrades help me at all?

Any ways enough of the rambling. Hello everyone :D

Cheers
Ryan

Welcome along. Soemtimes getting a new putter just gives you that little bit of extra confidence on the greens. Worth having a little punt on it and seeing how it goes

Hi Ryan,

Welcome. The standard response is "spend the money on lessons". While I agree I think you might see some benefit from upgrading your woods, try a few if you can and dont be afraid to buy better older clubs either on a certified site or ebay (cheaper, but has risks if you dont know what youre doing).
New putter absolutely, if you hate your one you'll notice a big difference. After that seriously think about lessons, I had a few when I started, left it for years, just had a couple, they really are the way to improvement for many people (some get on just by doing their own thing, fair play, for most coaching is needed).

Happy golfing!

I've a 3 year old Srixon driver and an old but very good Callaway 5 wood you can have for free is you're willing to coloect them from close to jct 26 of the M62.
