As some of you might know, I was made redundant in October last year.
Even though there's plenty of work out there, it's not as easy as you'd imagine to find something you'd either like or be suited to.
Then getting an interview is another matter entirely, especially for jobs advertised through recruitment agencies.

This was after I'd given up on changing careers which is what I originally wanted to do.

I was beginning to think it was going to take ages to find anything, if at all, but today I agreed to terms doing pretty much the same thing as I used to do, so at least I know I'll be up to it.

Anyway, I've seen a few posts in the last couple of months about people looking for work, so I just wanted to say 'don't give up' chaps, there's something out there somewhere for you.

Also, thanks to the people who have given me help and advice over the last few months.

Nice one Gary, wish my eldest could find something, costing me a fortune now he has left school etc and not earning grrrr

Does that mean your h/c will go up due to less golf ;)

Nice one Gary, is your new job still local?

Not really, well, ish. Near East Midlands Airport.

Well done Gary. What do you do?

Mainly all sorts of reports from sales data extracted from the company invoicing system.
Get data, manipulate data, present data.
Some other stuff as well, but that's the main part. Luckily I like computers and spreadsheets!

Well done Mate

that's going to make the return game a bit harder now you'll have to take a day off!!

Not starting until February 1st if you want to sort something out?

Believe it or not I've not played a lot during the week while I've been out of work. Too busy with the other stuff. It's definitely not been enjoyable not having to go to work.
That's why I've agreed to start Feb 1st... I thought it would be nice to have a week at home that I could actually enjoy.

Well done, never mind feeding the family, you'll be able to afford a few forum meets now.

That's the plan. Keeping my eye on the forum for new meets and spaces cropping up in existing ones.

Thanks to all for the comments. I am indeed a happy and relieved camper. :whoo:

Congratulations and well done from a fellow 'redundee'...

Still looking for a 'proper' job myself... Found casual work to tide me over but even here in the 'prosperous' south jobs have become hard to come by...
