On Thursday night I was having a chat with a pal on the way to the range, he's currently in the market for a new set and asked me if I was looking, I said that until I found something thàt was longer, more consistent and lower flying I wasn't interested.

While their I had a waggle of a few shiney sticks as you do and only two really stuck out, the new Tp Mc and the titleist cb's. After only a waggle the club was back on display and it left empty handed.

Today after our round I noticed out pro had a Tp mc in the demo bag so it was off to our simulator.

Lower flight by around 15 yards - big tick
Tighter dispersion - big tick
10 yards longer - oh baby yeah!

So, I'm now sitting here seriously struggling not to pull the trigger, what I liked was the face that after a round and a touch tiered the mc's were still forgiving.

Is ten yards enough to make you bite the bullet?

Haven't you just got a lovely set of FG's?

A complete improvement like that, would be good enough for me, if I was gaining 10 yards but losing accuracy wouldn't make me change though

Personally the dispersion and the flight would be more important for me but any additional yardage gratefully received. What price is he asking and can you trade in what you have or will you keep those. If you keep the current irons I'm sure you could move the MC's on without too big a hit

Mine are still mint so would make £175/200, I reckon I can snatch the Mcs at around £500

I reckon I'd keep the CBS for 2-3 months before shifting

Bazza what shaft are you looking for and are thsee the ones with the gret carbon fiber effect on the back?

There's a set 3-PW almost never been hit in the Inverness Golf Centre £349 KBS shafts

Patrick , he's got them on eBay and was seriously considering taking a punt, have you seen them up close to know what true condition their in

It's the kbs I'm after,

Baz, they are like brand new, if you want me to double check for you, PM me your Mobile and i will take a couple of shots of them. Might be able to pop in on Monday, playing Moray tomorrow so won't be open by the time i get back.

am I right in thinking you hit 1 club on a software simulator and are about to buy a full set based on this?

Im inclined to suggest that this is not unusual in a large number of purchases.
I've never hit anything other than a 6 iron in the numerous fittings I've had down the years...many into a net with some form of "simulator" providing the data.

I'm not sure that I would want much extra distance from irons...my bag is fairly sorted gap-wise and new irons that go 10 yards further is goingnto leave gaps at the bottom and close gaps at the top. For me to change there would have to be better dispersion and/or better playability/ease of use but looks would come into the equation as well.

No cmac, it was an eye opener to what is out there and the pro had said I can have it on the range today to compare more.

Our simulator has been re calibrated and is very accurate, showing flight shape and height, ball speeds etc, if it goes as good on the range today as it went yesterday, then I'll be pulling the trigger .

I went through the fitting process on a trackman in May and all ready know my shaft specs from that which coincide with the two demos I hit yesterday.

My usual playing partner has just started using the TPMC and loves them. He was a bit worried as hes just got his first handicap of 19 but in 2 months hes dropped to 16 and is hitting them well.
Me on the other hand im saving for the TPCB as they offer that bit more distance but still great dispersion and i like the flight of the KBS shaft as its higher than my Project X.
10 yds further and tighter dispersion would be a done deal.
