New irons dilemma

Just interested in some views/opinions on my situation.

I realised that my Mizuno T Zoid pro's are 16 years old and I hit them reasonably well, however has technology improved enough since then for me to see a real difference in say Mizuno MP-63's or maybe the equivalent Titleists. When I got mine the choice was regular or stiff shafts and upright or flat angle based on standing still in the pro shop :(

Based on all the marketing hype from muzzy and titleist you'd see a difference even if you had last years clubs so are they that good and helpful now?

One year to the next I doubt you'd see much difference and at our standard it would make no difference at all - S57-S56, MP52-MP53, AP2(09)-AP2(11) - if you have the older version then I doubt it's worth updating.
But after 5-10 years I think there would be a big difference.
Your T-Zoid Pro's will have a similar head size to the MP63, but will have the forgiveness of the T-zoid GI club that was around at the time.
Plus you shafts will be getting a bit tired by now -oooh er Matron!!

One thing I noticed particularly when I up graded from my TP21s, which I used for 13 years, was that the newer u-groves gave me a lot more spin than the old v-grooves even at my level. A well struck shot to the green definitely sat down quicker with the mid and short irons.

I certainly find that if I fat a 4 iron nowadays it goes slightly further than a fatted 4 iron of 20 years ago.
When I first started a fatted 4 iron went about 15 yards, but a recent fatted 4 iron on a par 3 at Blackmoor measured 28 yards on my GPS.
So yes, I think you will see an improvement.

thats certainly very valuable information there smifter and worthy of upgrading for that fact alone, however, I thin wedges usually and a sand iron flies about 160yds and P wedge about 180, I'm hoping the new weighting and feel system combined with new shafts can get my Sandwedge up to the 180 mark and over 200 for the P wedge ;)
