Ok, thinking of changing my irons or more accurately wanting to change my clubs for the sake of it!

I'm looking for a thin top line but has a cavity for those mis/hits ideally it'd look like a cross between cavity and blade but favouring the look of a blade. Forged and custom fitted but at a reasonable price I want to start demo-ing in the next couple of weeks and purchase when I find the one ready for a good winters practice... For what it's worth I have a handicap of 15 but ad I'm testing before I buy I should eliminate the hard to hit irons.

Any ideas or advice?

Depending on budget can still get the Callaway X forged at a very decent price, if got more of a budget the newer Razr xforged. That said had a look at the Titleist CB at the weekend and thats one gorgeous looking iron.

I would look at mizuno's mp range if you want that forged feeling, specifically the 53 and 63. These are a reasonable price compared to kzg, miura etc.....

Cobra... Never crossed my mind. I'm a mizzy man but fancied trying the opposition rather than go blindly back to them. Will check the callaways out too budget circa £600 anything over I'll have to do without the missus knowing :) having said that anything saved on that figure would be fine too!

Hmmm Taylormade love their drivers... Think it's about time to try their irons... Bit pricey though. Yes I love any MP club but if I go down the mizuno line I want to do it via their national fitting centres and as such delays it for me, due to needing time to visit my nearest one, Glasgow.

One set that tickes all the boxes are Wilson FG Tour.

Had never tried them (or seen them!!) until my AG/GM fitting but they certainly work for me.

Cheaper than the TM range too

just go to an AG as they have the mizzi swing shaft tool as well, theres a set of 53's for sale on here only a few months old

Ping I15's?

I currently use the g10's and am down to 17, once i've got that little bit better i'll be trying these out or possibly the i20's when they come.

Cobra S2 Iron easy to hiyt and go for miles I had my 6 and 5 irons delofted 2 deg to give more distance less height but all the others are standard except for the Lie being adjusted.

Go to a local Cobra Demo Day and hit every club they make it made my choice easy and I will never regret changing as my handicap sent down 5 shots in the year.

I have to admit I like the look of the Cobra's and the Titleist's and of course the Mizzy's ruled Taylormade out on price... Pings is the only other ones I've thought about but I think all models look 'clunky' and as much as I've heard great things about them I can't get passed that chunky look...

I was in the same position a couple of months back.

Ones I tried were:

Callaway X Forged
Ping i15
Ping s59
Cobra Pro CB's (very, very good if you can find them, wrong shaft for me)
Nike VR Forged split cavity

Ended up buying the Nike ones and don't regret it for a second (even if I don't really like Nike as a brand!).

A lot of good clubs in the style you're after, I must say if the Cobra Pro CBs had the right shaft I could easily have ended up with them, great clubs.

Enjoy trying though, always nice shopping for shiny's :D

Take a look at the Ping S56 it's a very pretty iron.

Nooooo... I had it so clear in my mind!

Plan of attack is take a visit to AG and then my local Pro, who I aim to buy from... but just seen a website called GolfBidder and some extremely interesting prices!

Golfbidder is respected but on the expensive side for second hand clubs. I would go with plan A if I were you. Golf clubs are a premium product, you are picking something that will be special to you for a few to many years. Let your pro get you the shaft that works best for you and if he is smart he will price match the big retailers. The above is of course if you can afford it. However if you know what shaft you like/suit you the second hand market can be a good option.

Yeah the thing I want to do on this purchase is go the whole hog get fitted and see how it improves my game... if I buy second hand I wouldn't have that joy and it'd always be a nagging in my head that I didn't get measured up.
