Hi,

I'm looking at buying some new irons n the near future and was looking for some advice on what to try out. Currently using Callaway Big Bertha irons with graphite shafts but have been advised by the pro giving me lessons that steel shafts would be much better for me. Would like to try a few different sets out to see what I like best. At the moment I want to try the new Taylormade Burners and probably the new Ping G15s when they are released. Any thing else any body can recommend to try? Nike? Callaway? Cobra? Cleveland? Wilson?

Currently playing to around 20 handicap and generally have a high ball flight. Starting to hit a slight draw shape thanks to some decent lessons but still liable to hit a fade every now and then.

hi, take a look at another option , i have the big bertha irons steel shaft and think they are great , so it may well be worth changing your shafts , im not sure how much cheaper it would be but i guess it would be cheaper than a new big branded set , they are also designed for game improvement , they got me down to i4 from 21

Why not see if any of the big manufacturers are doing demo days near you as its a great place to try the full range of clubs in different set ups. Otherwise my advice would be to see your local PGA and try some demo clubs on the practice ground so you can see and feel the ball fly off the club. As a last resort go to an AG or similar but try and find one with a range as opposed to an indoor bay so again you can see the balls fly.

I guess try and be open minded about what you want. Has your pro suggested regular or stiff steel shafts or is that something you need to figure out. It might be worth finding that out first so you are tring shaft set ups best suited to your swing.
