Recently bought some brand spanking new MP59's online and initially fell in love with the lovely soft feeling.

After three rounds though, i am not really feeling the love.

Easily a club shorter than my previous clubs and the ball flight is much higher than my old clubs. They also feel much lighter than what i am used to, which is making me swing a little eratic. I am not quite sure where the club head is.

No real forgiveness wins either

Do i stick them out or do i flog them?

I have only had them a fortnight but already i am missing my Cobras amp pros (which my mate has now)

Yes i know!

Should have got fitted etc

But im a magpie, what can i say

Already ?!

Find the nearest Mizuno fitting centre and get fitted for them properly to see if they suit you

Sounds like the wrong shaft for you

Big call but if you're struggling with distance I can't see that changing even if you get on with them. With summer coming (allegedly) you'll get more run so it may help. If you ain't happy I'd perhaps be getting rid and getting something that suits but that's just my opinion

Flog them, it will always prey on your mind.

I had the same issue with MP53's, lasted 1 week and they were shorter by 1 club on my 15 yr old set. Flogged them and got heavier MP69's- night and day.

ha ha

The wife will kill me if she finds out

Its the same s300 shaft that was in my Amps strangely. Half the reason i was confident (ish) buying them online.

They just feel weak in this set

Based on what you say:

Time to shift them on and get something that suits you better (or get your old ones back off your mate)

I would certainly see if you can go to a fitter and look for a heavier shaft on them and see how you get on then ?

What shafts did they come with ?

Same shaft mate

S300's

And they feel lighter ? Guess must all be in the head of the club

Pop in and see what they say - if not then bite the bullet and get fitted with a set you like - the JPX pros seem popular ?

Mate.. I'm resisting the urge so much :D..

Look, the Amp Pros were beautiful and much longer than you would have thought, but they were very punishing. The MP59's don't appear to be working for you (I had a similar issue with the 54's which felt like they were launching right up my nose sometimes..

Maybe, just maybe, you could look at a mid range set that look fantastic, but contain just that bit extra forgiveness. Having tried a few irons recently, the one that really caught my eye (and would be getting my wallet opened for if circumstances were different), were the Srixon Z745's. Beautiful to look at. Longer than my current irons and with a lovely piercing flight with the KBS Tour Stiff shafts..

Or, you could try and figure out why the current irons were shorter etc...

The Srixons are stunning

The 8 iron goes the same distance but from 7 down it is like the gaps are much smaller. When i get to 4 iron there is a huge difference though.

I think its the extra height to be honest

My gaps used to be around 10 yards or so, but now it feels like 5 or less.

Are the lofts different my JPX EZ Forged 7 Iron is 32', the 59's 7 Iron is 34, are the Cobra's the same lofts?

Think from memory the lofts are pretty similar pal.

From memory the 59's actually have a slightly longer shaft (1/4 inch perhaps). They are much higher launching however. Part of the reason i moved from Rocketbladez tours, to the Amps was to search for a lower launch.

They feel lovely and soft and its very pleasing, but the amps were forged soft with a wonderful powerful thwack through the ball.

I think from reading your replies you know in your own mind what the answer is

I feel like such a fool mate

ha

Just spoke to my mate. After he stopped laughing at me he said i could have them back if i bought him a beer or three.

Anyone want a set of 59's?

Only two weeks and three rounds old?

The Srixons are stunning clubs and i know from watching Rick Sheils hit them, they are very long (190 yard 6 iron!) but if i go back to the Amps (which i probably would) i think i will see the year out before doing it properly and get fitted.

I said to you before i wanted the extra forgiveness that the Mizuno would offer, but i am yet to witness it happen. If anything i am now clubbing up which has negated any forgiveness they may offer.

I feel like a man that has just cheated on his model wife, with a marginally less attractive younger model. :D
