Today I had a golf lesson which has reinvigorated my interest in this great and frustrating game. I just found this forum so I am merely introducing myself.

I have decided to record my progress up to now, and on in to the future, by way of a blog. I know nobody may ever read it but I enjoyed writing the first post and it will at least serve as a diary and record of my progress.

I did have 3 lessons early in the year but found it hard to take away what I'd learned to use on my own. Today was entirely different as more explanation was given, and my out to in path somewhat cured!

I now need to stop watching YouTube vids as all that served to do was confuse me with information overload!

I look forward to picking peoples brains on this forum :)

Welcome. Stick around - you'll enjoy it on here. You may even pick up the odd tip or two. But bear in mind that half of what you'll read here will be unmitigated rubbish, and half you'll need to take with a pinch of salt. But the rest will be fine. :)

hi. you don't see enough raging beards on the golf course if you ask me. well played. i'm new too. i played my first round in july and hit 128. i loved it. i had a half hour lesson a month ago where the pro changed my grip quite a lot. my lowest round is now 87. i watched a million clips on instagram but the time comes when you need to be told specifically what not to do, rather than watch or read what you're meant to do. keep going and have fun.

welcome to the site RB, where do you come from ,where do you intend playing as there might be people on here willing to help you with your game and get you moving in the right direction.

Welcome along beard, re your golf, enjoy it. If you hit a bad shot and end up in the woods etc, don't go for the miracle shot. Get it back on the fairway out of trouble the eights nines and tens will soon be fours fives sixes and sevens.
good luck with it me man.

i knew how to hit a ball and stuff and i'd been the range a few times. i wasn't totally green but learning from others as i played courses helped me but the main area i benefitted playing courses was shot selection. that round took 8 shots off my previous best from a few weeks earlier but i just got lucky. i was able to bring a lot of stuff together and maintain it for an entire round. my swing stayed with me and i managed to keep out bad habits. avoided doing mad shít and just played sensible golf. i expect to plateau now but i'll keep trying. target for this time next year is a sub 80 round.

Cheers all, and I come from Windsor in the UK.

Played pretty much my worst round ever today :( 9 holes on the "green" course at Wexham Park Golf Course. Par is 32, I managed 56. On hole 5, a 196 yard par 3, I shot in 10 after driving straight into the bunker off the green.

I did expect trouble as I am trying to use what I was shown yesterday which is still new to me... but didn't expect quite that bad lol.

Welcome along. Get stuck in. I wouldn't get too hung up on scores yet. Work on the lessons and enjoy playing and then you can tackle each area bit by bit. You'vr all winter to get a repeatable(ish) swing before playing properly next year.
