So I have recently applied to become a member at my local course. They have received my application and I am due to meet with the vice-captain & rabbits captain in the very near future.

I am just wondering what the format of this kind of meeting is? I am assuming it is so they can meet me, and judge if am the right fit for the club etc.

I was just wondering what experiences other golfers have with their first time interviews, what should I expect, should I dress smartly, in golf gear, or as I would normally?

No idea what to expect really?

Generally just an informal chat, to find out more about you and your golf and tell you about the club.

I would dress smartly but not over the top and just relax and be yourself. If you have any specific questions, jot them down so you don't forget them, then you'll have something to ask when they say "do you have anything you want to ask?" :D

The days off having an interview are long gone at most clubs, The Vice captain and Rabbits captain will want to meet you to give you the knowledge on the days that they meet up for a game and getting involved in the club competitions.

"Don't forget that the club has to meet you needs you have to ask yourself "what do I want from club membership" and then ask the appropriate questions.

as bob Geldof said 'give us your ......... money'
Agreed that is the reality of it. All clubs need the money these days. No club in there right mind would turn any membership down.

I had one about 6 weeks ago when I joined my club, its mainly just to put a name to a face and show you round the facilities so you are acquainted with everything.

Hi mate, worth double checking with the club, I joined a new club this year and when I turned up for my meeting in smart casual, I was advised that this is a jacket and tie formal interview, funny thing was I went home first to take off my suit!
Basically most interviews are to make sure you can pay the fees and aren't going to lower the tone of the club. A bit old fashioned now in my opinion......or "traditional" as my club call it
