afternoon all

I'm pleased to announce that we now have a standalone version of Golf Monthly magazine in the newsstand section of the app store and existing print subscribers can get for no extra cost.

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/golf-monthly-magazine/id521066992?mt=8

Or search 'Golf Monthly magazine' in the app store

There are a number of points to highlight
* You download the 'shell app' for free

* you then download individual issues or take out a subscription

* print subscribers have the ability to authenticate their subscriptions simply be entering their name and postal address that the mag is sent to each issue. You then get to download each issue without having to pay extra

* For non-subscribers there is a sampler of the July coverdated (Rory issue) you can download for free and you can then if you wish buy a single issue or subscription however please do note the following....

* at this stage orientation is portrait only (doesn't flip to landscape)
* double tap and pinch and zoom work but not super fast
* there is no interactive content such as videos and galleries in these editions (our interactive version with videos and galleries is delivered via Zinio and current subscriptions via that app will continue to be delivered)

Later this year there will be a fully interactive version of the newsstand app that flips from portrait to landscape and features interactive content

If you download it and use it please give us a friendly review!

Mike, if as a print subscriber we sign up for the ipad version, will we still get the print version in the post?
afraid not, you'd need to do it the other way round. Buy the print subscription then you get access to the iPad version at no extra cost
Its all to do with the way that apple do business

Is it just for Apple users or is there an option for any android tablet???

At this stage just Apple I'm afraid Craw
We are led by our parent company Time INC in the US on this so if they decide it's worth the development costs to do Android then everyone should get it
The issue is that the moment apple delivers a huge amount more in the way of downloads that its often hard to justify the development costs for doing versions for android and or BB too when they don't deliver anywhere near the same volumes as apple
