new Forum format (including mobile) coming very soon!

hi all
just to let you know we should be switching across to a new forum format this week and.... drum roll... a bespoke mobile format will be part of the upgrade
if you go an look at one of our other sites http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/ it'll give you a preview of how it'll look on the device you use
On desktop the switch is to allow us to highlight more content from around the site on forum pages and allow for the ad formats our advertisers want to use to be served. On mobile its all about a better user experience
I'm hoping I might get an an exact timing for the switch tomorrow and will update you as soon as I hear more
Ive been using it for a few weeks and seems work fine but I am sure there will a couple of teething issuess so please let us know if stuff isnt working as it should be... and I can pass that on to a boffin

I like the mobile look (Android Galaxy Note), nice and clean.

From the iPad the forum is gonna take a little getting used to. Have seen that style used on various forums (mainly US ones for some reason) over the years, and always worry that the side panel takes up too much screen space ... but as with most things I'm sure I'll get used to it soon enough and then completely forget what it was like before

Definitely landscape Mike. I'm sure I won't notice after a week of use ... I think the old brain has gotten too familair to the full width of this version.

Looks good, didnt notice a "today's posts" tab on the mobile version but its there on PC - could just be me looking in the wrong place...off to find the phone and check again.

Pleased to hear there's a mobile version coming but I'll stick my head my head above the parapet on the tablet version - I don't like it. Still, seems that I'm in the minority. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
