Hi everyone
Thinking of a quick break in New Forest (an area I have so far failed to identify never mind visit).
Has anyone played Bramshaw courses or Durnwood Manor?
Looking for a change of scenery rather than anything fancy but speak up if anything is in aforementioned 'goat track' category.
(although that hasn't stopped us in the past!)

Bramshaw has 2 courses - the Forest (as it sounds, open forest, watch out for ponies) & the Manor (parkland course, played it once - quite challenging). Don't know anything about Durnwood.

My home course is Barton-on-Sea...

...which is on the coast just to the south of the Forest. It's a bit windy at times (mild understatement!) but worth it for the views across to the Isle of Wight and down towards Christchurch.

Have a good break.

Bramshaw Manor course is ok, the first 8-10 holes are pretty good, it then becomes a bit samey, I've not played Barton but it has good reviews and is in a cracking spot. The best course I've played round there is Brokenhurst. This is a top course but is a bit pricey at weekends.

I haven't played either but i have heard nothing but good things about bramshaw.

There are quite a few good courses in the area with new forest gc, brockenhurst manor and Moors Valley all well worth a visit.

I think haplesshacker plays at East Horton which isn't to far away and i hear is well worth a visit aswell.

East Horton Greenwood course is now closed whilst the final changes are made to incorporate the new holes. The Parkland is still open, though both courses look and play better when the weather is drier.

Played Bramshaw (the Parkland) a year or two ago, on a stonking midweek afternoon deal. Nice enough. TBH I don't recall much about it. But I would go back.

New Forest golf club near Lyndhurst is a quirky course in the forest. Very friendly, and the fairways are kept very short by the ponies! A nice change from the usual parkland fayre around here, and not pricey.

There are just so many to play in the area of a 20 mile radius. The stand out course's (from what I understand) are;

Ferndown Golf Club, Parkstone Golf Club, the one in the Purbecks over-looking Poole Harbour, the two municipals in Bournemouth, Meyrick and Queens. Over this way a bit, there's Botley Park, Lee On Solent, Cams Hall, Wickham.........

The list is not complete, and I'm sure to have missed out a few. But that should get you started.
