New Equipment - Inspire or Improve ?

Whilst cleaning my irons this afternoon, in prep for our Medal tomorrow, I was wondering if all the 'new shiny' things we buy actually improves us, or merely 'inspires us' to greater things.

I parted with my ageing Zing2's last year, and replaced them with Titleist AP2's, so going from a Cast to a Forged set, lot smaller heads, but perhaps more workable and with very good ProjectX shafts in etc.

Took me a while to get the feel, but they've now seen me down from 12 to 10, and possibly playing some of my best golf ever.

So,.......does our new equipment inspire or improve us, ....or both ?

In my recent case, both.



But normally, I'd say only inspire.

It depends. If you've got a good swing (natural or learnt) then it can be both. However if you aren't swinging great I find I can normally eek a few good rounds out of a shiny club(s) before the bateeries die and I'm back where I started.

That said I've promised myself a set of TM TP's if I get to 10 this season
