I'm very new to the game and am looking to buy a decent driver to improve my game.

I have been using a fairway 3 wood off the tee and have been getting good results so want to advance to a driver.

Obviously I'm looking to get a good deal and have seen this one that has interested me, it has some good reviews on the site and alos from magazines etc.

I could also take advantage of their 90 day money back guarantee if I didn't get on with it.

Is there any other drivers that I should be looking at for a beginner? With a focus on being easy to hit and forgiving.

Also what loft would you suggest for a beginner?

Thanks.

I have the original Dymo and although the square head is a smidge on the ugly side, it's great. I couldn't hit it for toffee initially, but once I figured out my back swing wasn't going straight back and fixed it, it goes like a dream now (most of the time :D).

£120 seems like a decnet price. I paid £99 for the Dymo from AG back in April.

I do however want a siny new driver now :D

Loft is a personal thing, depending on your swing.

I use a 9.5 as I have a particularly high ball flight. The downside to a lower loft is that the club is less forgiving, so any hooks/slices are amplified a bit. If you're relatively new to the game and you've never had a driver before, I would probably select a higher loft (12 degree-ish), but really, a trip to your local golf shop to try one out before you buy it would be the way forward.

That looks like a god deal but there are lots of good drivers out there suited for beginners and plenty of last year's models discounted.

I would definitely recommend trying a few at a local course or range before buying if you can. There is so much variation you could find a big difference between different clubs even if the loft and shaft flex are the same. With a driver I think you also need to feel happy with how it looks at address, how it feels to swing and, this might sound silly, even with how it sounds when you hit it.

Hope that helps

Thanks for all your help guys.

I had thought about going for a higher loft as I have heard that it can help if you are a beginner.

The problem with going to try them out is my local shops don't seem to have many discounts and don't stock the drivers I have seen discounted on the net.

I don't mind taking a chance as onlinegolf do a 90 day trial so if I think its rubbish (not my swing obviously) I could always exchange it.

So this is the newer model?

don't normally plug sales here, but I've just gotten hold of some new Srixon drivers (not nicked - liquidated stock). Got a mix of lofts and shafts, most are mint condition, a couple have some scuff marks on the top, but face is spotless, all still have grips wrapped. If you're interested, PM me, sure we can come to a reasonable deal.

Oh boy, have you got a lot to learn...

Clubs do not improve your game, lessons and practice do.

I mean look at me, I do neither and I'm shocking!

Callaway FT-iQ changed my life. They are last years now and should be cheep if you can find one.

Lots of offers around if you hunt them down. AG are doing the Tour Burner at £89 in reg or stiff flex and they are 10.5 degree

I don't think most golfers (not all) need any lower than 10.5 and I've heard it said by a few pros that most club golfers would actually benefit from 11-13 degree more.

Thats CHEEEEEEP!

As a new(ish) golfer I would steer clear of anything with the word Tour on it. It's usually there for a reason and means it will not give you any additional help that other clubs will eg closed face to combat the dreaded slice and lower launching shafts. I would take a look at either a Benross or MD golf driver in 12 degree lofts. This shouldn't be a big change from your 3 wood but will still give you added distance.

Homer, which shop is AG?

I went to the local JJB sports earlier and they had a couple of the Taylormade Tour Burners for sale for £99.99 and there is 20% off everything in store at the moment so I could have got it for £80, was tempted but I don't really know anything about it so I didn't buy it. Because it is the 'Tour' version won't it make it harder to hit? or is it just to do with swing speed.

I have been looking at reviews of the Cobra S9-1, and it seems to be a very good club that is easy to hit, its definantly in contention.

Thanks, I figured it out as soon as I pressed submit!!

They might have sold out, they aren't on the website.

Think its an in store only offer

yep they do that alot and vice versa. It can also just be some stores and not others. There are so many deals out there though and as i said before the FT-iQ really helped me and seemed to get voted the most forgiving driver on a post in here a little while ago.
