Didn't vote - as there's no 'Who gives a toss' option!

Ever read the book 'Dice Man'? Try tossing a coin.

Excellent input - maybe you could have voted in the - not interested so will ignore the thread

If you don't give a toss why read and make comment?

Read the second sentence first then!

@Phil. Both equally good imo - and from your results, same for you. Why not get the R1 repaired though? TM must be pretty used to that particular repair job by now! Neither 'new' Driver went particularly further than the R1 once the settings have been optimised. SLDR is a bit less spin for me (nowhere near as much as the impression TM give imo).

The results from both drivers are better than my R1 - higher ball flight , better dispersion, better more consistent shot shape

Are they that much better that it's worth £300 though?

Or just hankering after a new (better coloured!) toy!

A 'more suitable' shaft could give the same results in the R1!

Combination of both - the performance upgrade is certainly well worth thinking about spending the money

The one benefit that going TM would give is the option to use/reuse the shaft from the R1 - if you want to. Did you actually try old and new shafts in new and old heads?

Otherwise coin-toss is as good a way to 'decide' as any!

How much 'performance gain' do you actually get?

Tried two shafts in my R1 - A graffaloy and UST and didnt get on with them

Distance wise you are talking 15 -20 yards further but dispersion is tighter.

Trying them both again on Tuesday !!!

H'mm. Maybe that is worthwhile. Did you try the SLDR shaft in the R1? Seems like the R1 was not a great fit. Why did you buy that?

Now that was a purchase on impulse - it gave me more distance than my R11 but thats it.

Take the R1 and see what difference the SLDR shaft makes then.

Oh and take 85 out of the next 100 mins off too!:D

I love my sldr and wont be changing it for the foreseeable future. I agree with the post above that say's you need to have a good swing speed for the stiff shaft. When I get a bit 'steery' with my swing it goes nowhere.

I do think the i25 sits nice though and that is the only one out there that would take my fancy. That said, the Ping Anser Driver.....now that's a piece of kit !!

Tried the Cally clubs on Friday as they happened to be doing a demo day at the Downshire where I had a playing lesson booked. I needed to warm up and so it seemed rude not to. Liked them a lot especially the Alpha. Hadn't been a Cally fan for a while and to be honest thought a lot of the ones they brought out in the last few years were poor compared to other manufacturers. Both BB offerings were very easy to hit. Personally I preferred my own G25 in terms of forgiveness but that was a personal choice. I don't like the SLDR having given that a serious bashing at my own club last week as the pro had a demo version in. Again, I've not been a big TM driver fan either.

At the end of the day its all about what works for the individual and keeps the ball in play best. Again I would prefer dispersion (fairway) over distance but if I can get a little of both then that would be the one for me

Having not seen the cally in action it is tough to comment on it. But the SLDR from what I have seen does hit the ball a mile. Played with a few forumers recently that has it. 1 of them was probably 10 yards behind me previously but since having that I am now struggling to keep up with him.Another one is at least a club shorter than me, but off the tee he was up with me and on one tee shot I ripped one and he out drove me by about 10 yards.Another one was hitting it a really good distance too.All 3 of them hit a lot of fairways and hit it longer than I expected, so I would say that it is a good driver with distance and control.

Phil, I know your a taylormade man but I would plump for the Cally, TM have launched to many models in to short a period in my opinion, with this they have devalued at too faster pace for my liking, when you look between the r11, r11s and r1 there was little difference that warranted a new launch as such, in return TM owners have taken a major kick in the Johnsons

For me I've got a real soft spot for the alpha, optifit shaft if you want to tinker, core if you want to change flight.... None of these gimmicks to mask a shonky swing. I also like the fact that the Bertha alpha is a bit more rare, they should hold their value and not fall out of bed in weeks, like the sldr has done with the launch of the v2, 430cc and now the new mini....

I'm not hitting a alpha just yet for fear a night chunk of my year end bonus would go straight up the wall on one,
