Evenings gents,

I just joined my first golf club and don't know anyone.

In my mid 20s and generally seems to be people older at the course but would enjoy company on some rounds as gets bit boring playing alone.

Cheers

welcome to the madhouse

where have you joined?

Club near me called East Brighton.

Going to get out for 18 tomorrow if weather is OK. Nice playing in afternoons, no one in front or behind for several holes most the time.

Welcome Kiddo,
Join in with the oldies in the meantime, they might just teach you a few tricks.
Guaranteed you'll enjoy some good old tales and banter.
BTW, I use to be in my mid 20s , in the late 60s :D

I've also just joined and been told the best way is to just join in the comps and you'll be out with others. I've played 3 rounds at my new club so far, all 3 I turned up to play on my own but others teeing off at similar time asked if I wanted to join them.

East Brighton, I have a feeling I know the place...

Best thing to meet new people is to ask to play golf with them.

The worst thing they can do is say no.

I'm sure you'll meet folks soon enough but wouldn't the club usually have this type of conversation with any new member to set up their first few rounds etc?

At our place, new members are introduced to the captain and the pro, they then arrange a game with them to help introduce them too he club and other members. Works well, this year we've had 8 new members join our swindles, etc... and are now integrated with us.

When you do start to play with others, if the're staying for a bevvy, stay also, when you can.

You'll also get to know others, and their mates as well.

Just get yourself entered in the comps. I was in the same boat as you a couple years ago, knew no one at the club and now I know most of the male members that play in the comps. Its always good because it means you can possibly get a game most of the time. I normally get a game early Saturday and sunday mornings with one of the older chaps and its always a good game. I'm 25 and it seems like most of the members at my club are of the older generation but its still always a good crack getting out with different people.
