Just come across a pic of this as they finally updated my driver,im very biased towards Cobra woods but not too sure on the looks of this.

I think they bringing out the usual M,F and X models this being the X

With it having the Matrix Ozik shaft in i doubt it will cost the £229 i payed for mine

Im a fan of Cobra even though I only use a cobra driver 50% of the time at the moment (trying out another)so you would only get kind words from me about Cobra so I will leave it to others to be objective. ;)

It is interesting to see they have gone for the darkened finish like the superquad. I have actually never hit a cobra driver so will have to try one this year as I am after a new one.

I dare not try any new gear at the moment for fear of finding the need to buy it!

Looks ok - much like a lot of new kit around at the moment. But do Cobra really need to bring a new driver out? Or TM, Callaway, Mizuno etc etc etc. A new driver every 6 months or less that is still promising longer straighter drives than your previous one. Chances are you'll hit some good ones but you'll still cart some into the clag just as you do with your current club.

I think if they launched a new club every 18 months or so there would be a bigger reaction as the jump in technology may really make a difference.

I know what you saying they bring out drivers too quickly, although the pro s driver i have is 2 years old and they just bringing out this version.

Looking on the cobra website and my driver is still the current pro s, quite a long shelf life nowadays

Oh yeah well Cobra have had 2 sets of drivers out for years, only the driver i have they have not updated.

With Cobra they bring there Modest priced f speed etc, then there expensive l5v once a year they aint as bad as taylormade

I dont think there will be any difference in new and old models just alright for someone wanting a new club

Cobra are part of Acushnet, so I guess they fall into Titleist's theory of a two year lifespan.

TM could learn alot from this strategy.

I think what it is is people want to change their drivers at different times. I didn't want to change mine last year but I will be changing this year- for me I will simply refuse to change until I have got a decent amount of use out of a club if not I would be permanently broke. Therefore there is always going to be a market for people wanting new clubs as I will be looking at a new big stick and cobra are hoping I find their new promises irresistible compared to what club I have currently.

Other companies are definitely worse for constantly releasing gear though: TM, Callaway etc.

Hi all

Paul O'H and I went to the official launch of this driver (plus two other Cobra releases we can't talk about yet) in Manchester on Thursday. (launch was a quality new indoor golf venue, Golfatorium on Ducie St - well worth checking out if you're in Manchester)

We were both really impressed with it. I have never used a Cobra driver for more than a test session and perhaps one round of golf but might give this an extended run. We tested it with a few different shaft options in there and both Paul and got some decent numbers off the monitor. My bets fit was a Diamana Blue Board and Paul's was a Fuji Rombax

It's certainly a really good looking club - just as it did for the Superquad TP, the all black head on the S9-1 makes it look smaller than the 460cc it is

We will have a lot more pics up on Monday

Of the Cobra staff players Geoff Ogilvy put in the bag for the Mercedes last week and won. Villegas has also got it in play already and apparently Poulter and JB Holmes are ready to go with it too
