new clubs

The MX-100's would be entirely no good for you in my opinion! These are a complete beginners set and would offer you nothing in the way of improvement once your handicap lowers.

Have a look instead at the MX-950's which are a hybrid set or the MX-200's which are a bit more advanced for the mid-high handicapper.

I'm changing my MX-17's later this year and will be getting the MX-200's.

Boycey, have a little look around your local ranges, golfclubs and see if you have any demo days coming up near you.

Best thing to do is get out there and hit everything you can!

You would be ok with either MX100 or MX19s, both very good and the MX19s being less than £200 for 3-SW as well. I had the MX19s and if they where not as heavy would have used to to around 12 hcp as they are designed to be used to.

Boycey, go with what you feel is right. Decide how much assistance you want from the clubs & how much you wish to be challenged. Decide whether its forgiveness or a measure of punishment & reward you need or desire. Decide where your strengths & weeknesses are in your iron play.

None of us have a crystal ball & handicap can only tell so much about a player. I cannot really recommend anything in the Mizuno range, as I've had little experience of Mizuno, other than to know its a brand that has a good pedigree & hence you are unlikely to go far wrong, so long as you know what you really want & really need.

I've used mx 19's for the last 2 years and they have been terrific clubs.I've come down from 26 to 18 in that time and whilst I'd like to think it's entirely down to my swing I reckon the sticks have helped a whole lot.
I reckon I've got one more year with these before trading up for custom fit 200's.
Cannot recommend them highly enough for high-ish handicappers.

What a sensible post. What he says and demo loads, TM, Ping, Callaway, Srixon, Mizuno, MD. Its your money.

Does it have to be Mizuno. Why not go and try every make available and with an open mind. Maybe try all the others and then go to the Mizzys so you don't have and preconceptions.

There are a lot of good clubs out there and I know from experience (wanted a set of Cally X20's) that the club you desire may not be the best for you.
